Recruiting Country: The latest recruiting news surrounding the Maroon & White
TexAgs Recruiting analyst Ryan Brauninger joined this morning for another edition of Recruiting Country, highlighting the latest news and notes from the recruiting trail as the 7-on-7 and spring camp circuit hits full swing across the Lone Star State.
Key notes from Recruiting Country
- I was in The Woodlands last weekend last for a 7-on7 tournament; we have another big Under Armour event coming up in Dallas; I'll be up there helping Jason with that. It's a dead period right now; Texas A&M is still waiting to hire a recruiting coordinator; those variables are making the flow of content a little slow right now. It'll get going again in short order, though, I'm sure.
- Rueben Owens' (pictured above) recruitment will heavily involve Jimbo Fisher. Jimbo is involved with every recruitment, don't get that confused. I just believe Jimbo's involvement here with Rueben will be more like that of a position coach. He is, without a doubt, the staff's No. 1 target at running back. I can see this recruitment playing out to the end of the season, but who knows.
- Some other recruitments where Jimbo was highly involved... Conner Weigman, Jaylon Jones, DeMarvin Leal, Isaiah Spiller, Devon Achane. Those are some names I can think of off the top of my head. I wouldn't be surprised to see Jimbo take the same kind of approach with Anthony Hill out of Denton Ryan.
- I don't think we talk enough about how good of a prospect Anthony Hill is. He is the best linebacker prospect I have ever watched. He could show up on campus, on day one, and contribute as an inside linebacker. He is THAT good of a prospect.
- CJ Johnson is a very intriguing-looking safety prospect out of Katy Paetow. He is the cousin of LJ Johnson. He doesn't have an A&M offer currently, but I wouldn't be surprised if he got one in the near future.
