During Friday's edition of TexAgs Radio, the fish bowl's own Richard Zane joined to share updates from the latest in Aggie Athletics as there were numerous honors to run down from this past week and plenty of action ahead this weekend.

Football (2-1)
There was a television scheduling change this week due to some of the games being postponed due to COVID-19 concerns among a few programs: Texas A&M at Mississippi State will now air on ESPN instead of SEC Network. Kickoff is still scheduled for 3:00 p.m. CT.

Quarterback Kellen Mond was named co-offensive player of the week in the SEC, sharing the honor with Alabama’s Najee Harris.

It was announced on Tuesday by the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation and the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl that Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher was named the Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week following the Ags’ 41-38 win over Florida.

Wide receiver Caleb Chapman was named the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Player of the Week following his performance against Florida in which he caught nine passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns. Mond and Isaiah Spiller also received honorable mention honors.

Soccer (2-1)
Freshman midfielder Barbara Olivieri was named the SEC’s co-freshman of the week, an honor she shared with Arkansas’ Ava Tankersley. Olivieri scored her first collegiate goal off a direct corner kick vs. Florida last Sunday at Ellis Field in A&M’s 2-1 win.

Senior defender Jimena Lopez was named to Top Drawer Soccer’s Women’s Team of the Week as a defender. Lopez scored on a penalty kick in the Aggies’ 2-1 win over Florida last Sunday. Olivieri picked up honorable mention honors from TDS as a midfielder as well.

It is match day in Aggieland as No. 9 Texas A&M hosts the Mississippi State Bulldogs today (Friday), October 16, at Ellis Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CT and will air on SEC Network+ (streaming on ESPN platforms).

Volleyball
Texas A&M volleyball begins its season tomorrow. Saturday, October 17, at 1:00 p.m. CT against the LSU Tigers. That match will be at Reed Arena. The Ags and Tigers will meet again on Sunday, October 18, at 3:00 p.m. CT. Again, that match will be at Reed Arena. Saturday’s match will air on SEC Network+ (streaming on ESPN platforms), while Sunday’s match will air on the SEC Network.

Aggie Volleyball begins the season ranked No. 8 in the AVCA Coaches’ Poll.
