Texas A&M chancellor John Sharp keen to resume Texas rivalry
Just days after Texas head coach Tom Herman requested the renewal of the historic Aggie-Longhorn rivalry, Texas A&M University System chancellor John Sharp has stated his desire to see the annual competition on the gridiron resume.
In an interview with Texas Monthly, Sharp touched on many topics concerning Texas A&M's flagship College Station campus, including the Aggie football program and the likelihood that the rivalry game, which was discontinued after Texas A&M left the Big 12 for the Southeastern Conference in the summer of 2012, would ever be played again.
Despite his eagerness, Sharp noted there are a multitude of factors that must be considered before the Aggies and Longhorns can hit the field together and cited A&M's rigorous SEC schedule as a major roadblock.

“I know a lot of people would like to see A&M play UT again,” Sharp said. “Not the kids here necessarily, but a lot of the older alumni still ask about it.”
