Heard Robinson just picked up four stars
Not gonna lie, this surprised me. I wouldn't have been surprised with a 5.6 or maybe 5.7 rating, but if he truly is that dominant, you would think LSU would be in on trying to get him. That also makes me worry that he might end up being Chris Henderson II

Good for him though. That's pretty impressive.

I'm still curious to see where Jackson will get rated, particularly if he's the BETTER of the two. He may well end up as another 4 star guy.

it be nice for jackson to get a forth star also. It will make our class a whole lot better

This was surprising to me as well.
Robinson is the lowest rated la recruit we have according to the la top 100 and yet he gets a 4 star? interesting

But then again stars don't matter right?

I will say i do trust Shermans evaluation

Kelso

you do realize that you are insulting the very recruits you are so excited about having wear maroon.

use a lot more brain and a lot less lip and maybe we will have a better chance of Fobbs honoring his verbal. You do realize that Fobbs parents read these boards and have stated that they are concerned about what people have to say about him. I'm sure they would like to see him and their state treated with respect.

Or, you could just continue to make crude statements that cast bad light on the members of this board and A&M in general.

It doesn't really make our class any better or worse than it was before the latest update came out. We didn't pick up any new players. Robinson is the same kid he was when he committed.

What it does show is that Sherman is able to identify some of these unknown kids before the recruiting sites do.

Some people haven't figured out they don't have to put other places down to express how great the place they live is.

I really think Robinson is going to be a really good player. I see him growing into a DT with speed. As an LSU fan, I really wish he would have shown up at an LSU camp to show his stuff. Maybe he would have gotten an offer. With the new defensive coaches at LSU, they are wanting to see most prospects in camp for evaluation. Once again, i think that this kid is going to be a really good player. I am glad that he is going to A&M and not in the SEC; and is going to receive a good education and play football.

LSU fan in the heart of Aggieland . . .

Interesting...

First, Patrick Lewis and Jonathon Stewart were 4*s from Louisiana last year, and now this:

Fobbs # 9
Brandon Jackson # 16
Gavin Stansbury # 26
Ivan Robinson # 38

... with Robinson (the lowest rated above) getting 4*s, too. Are we setting a trend here, nabbing gobs of 4* talent from the Bayou state?!

Just to set the record straight, there's not much of a difference between east texas and Louisiana. They just talk a little funnier the further east and south you go.

I think we've gotten absolute STEALS in Fobbs and Jackson...regardless of what the STAR ratings say.

Fobbs will be one of those that shines with the ball in his hands (like Dustin Harris did last night).

I just hope that they and the state that their families live in are shown a little more respect than what is shown here. Thank you!

Don't take that stuff so personally.

A lot of good Aggies currently reside in Louisiana, myself included.

Most people on these boards realize that Louisiana is very much like East Texas. Not just the terrain, but the people as well.

SEC couldn't be happier about our recruiting. Taking a little of the carpet out from under LSU
our recruiting in LA doesnt affect LSU. i wish everyone could undertand this. we arent winning head-to-head battles with LSU. we are battling other SEC schools like bama, awburn, ole miss, miss st, and tenn for the mid range guys LSU doesnt have room for. so its quite ironic they "like" the inroads we are making into LA. i am going to assume you pulled out of your @$$ to look credible........

So we can't "like" the guys we're getting from LA just because LSU didn't offer most of them? The schools that DID offer them, a lot of them are successful with coaching staffs that people seem to think highly of. That, along with watching them play-I'm excited about them. I don't think that we're beating LSU head to head in their home state anytime soon for many guys. But that's ok. There are a lot of really, really good football players in Louisiana, and LSU can't take them all.

It hasn't hurt them in the short-term, no. If we continue to establish a Louisiana pipeline though, it will bring us to blows with the swamp kitties in their own state eventually though. Us having an in-road to their home state does nothing good for them. Although I agree that it doesn't do anything good for the other SEC teams that are recruiting Louisiana either.

Considering we've pulled 4 4-star guys out of Louisiana in the last two years though, I would quit complaining about it. Particularly since we aren't actually playing LSU unless we draw them in a bowl game.

Forget LSU for the moment. Many of A&M's best football teams had a good smattering of Louisana players on them. Quite apparently, THAT is a key ingredient to Aggieland's success on the gridiron that is not lost on Mike Sherman. (Nor was it lost on RC, who of course grew up spittin' distance away from the Bayou State in Orange.)

the only way we can hurt LSU is if we start winning on the field. us winning and them struggling can tilt the scales in our favor, not stealing a few 4 star guys. the reason we have been pulling some quality kids is b/c we can offer early playing time- thats a valuable tool, but as we build depth, we will lose that card to play.

i keep saying this, and i feel like a broken record, but why is LA more fertile than TX? we can go into LA and fight off the SEC, or stay home and fight most of the bigXII. i just dont see what the difference is. we can pull 4 star guys from across E/SE TX... no need to cross the sabine IMO

It is not that LA is more fertile than TX, but it is talent rich. We still get most of our recruits from TX but LSU always leaves a few studs behind, why not snatch them up?
Shreveport is the same distance to here as it is to BR.

Then when you also consider we are just about the only school in the big 12 to recruit LA, that is an advantage.

My question is, why not recruit LA?

Sherm talked about this at length at the austin coach's night.

He mentioned that:
1) Louisiana is an important recruiting ground.
2) Because LSU is recruiting all over the nation - they're leaving their back door open.
3) He said that kids from Louisiana are very family oriented and that makes for a great fit at A&M.
4) He has experience in the state - he recruited heavily in Louisiana back with R.C.

I'm glad A&M is picking up Louisiana kids (as long as LSU doesn't want them). We won't have to worry them coming back to bite us in the @$$ unless we meet in a bowl. Helps LSU keep the rest of the SEC out of Louisiana.

LSU only has 9 players from LA out of their verbals. And not much more room left eother.

This is true, but if we continue to suck, then Sherman won't be here for THAT long anyway. Still, getting a foothold in LA is important for later.

Well, first off a lot of Louisiana is actually closer to College Station than a lot of Texas is. Secondly, you can't just assume that all of that talent in SE texas will want to come here since out of state schools have a significant presence in Texas, that even if we start lighting the world on fire, we aren't going to be able to get rid of. Thirdly, what is the point of limiting yourself to just in-state prospects when you can pick up a better prospect from across the border?

It isn't like we're going into Louisiana for half our recruits, but if we can continue to get higher quality guys from LA, then there is absolutely no reason not to.
