It's time we bounce back. Number 4 opponent, national stage, outside world doubting us again, it's time we bounce back. Tonight 8pm in Florida against number 4 Stanford, we flip the script.
We see the record, we saw some close losses, we saw sets that we gave away. The Aga have had time to reset and get back to the drawing board. It's time we see collective improvement on the court across. I want to see better blocking, better passing, better setting, better swings, and better serving. I want to visibly see this team take strides forward. I know it will be hard against a team like Stanford, but we will need it. We saw the play of Kyndal Stowers against Indiana and that's the Kyndal Stowers we remember. If she's playing like that, we will be in every match regardless of opponent. However, she can't do it all on her own.
The beauty of the 2025 team was the talent and weapons across the entire court. You mad multiple options who could swing and get you kills. If one or two athletes weren't having the best night, there were 2 or 3 more that could step up and deliver. We need to have our options this year play more consistent and bring their best. We have to adjust to blocks and now teams will be putting more focus on stopping Stowers, so we need to have other like Natalie Ring be efficient, we need production from Kaia Castle in the middle, we need more consistent nights from Taryn Morris. We need to have a balanced attack with multiple options.
We are in for a tough tough match with Stanford. They are undefeated on the season with all their matches going 4 sets. They have wins over Wisconsin, Kansas, Marquette, and South Florida. They have a loaded lineup. Last season they relied on a freshman setter and libero in Logan Parks and Spencer Etzler, and started another freshman at middle. They're all a year older and paired with some talented upperclassmen at the pin positions and one of the best middle blockers in the country Lizzy Andrew. Outside hitter Julia Blayshov and Andrew are both averaging over 3 kills a set. They also have a whopping 5 athletes averaging over a block a set. They have excellent height at the net and look scary blocking. They also, as always through the years, have excellent servers. This will be the toughest team we've faced so far.
We're going to need to be playing our best consistently through a set. One little lull, back to back errors and Stanford will run away with the set. We have to put pressure on them from the service line and somehow find a way to get better at closing blocks or affecting their shots. In turn we're gonna have to pick up their serves and get our setters a good pass. We saw both Kirra Musgrove and Lily Nicholson get some reps at the position last week. We also saw many different serving rotations, we saw Ring and Fitch split time. We'll see what our game plan is for Stanford.
The start to the season is what we hoped for or built up to. Being 3-4 with two top 6 teams on deck is rough, but a win this week would be huge. When teams are compared for hosting spots they look at ranked wins or signature wins and we are lacking both. It's time we get one, heck why not two. We need to flip the script and stop messing around. We'll bounce back this week, I just know it! Let's remind the volleyball world who Texas A&M Volleyball is…
