Your defending national champion Aggie Volleyball team will head north to take on Baylor in a final exhibition match Sunday evening 5 days before they kick the 2026 season off in Milwaukee at the AVCA First Serve Showcase in a top ten matchup against Louisville. The Aggies will look to be tested against a strong opponent before it all counts starting Friday.
Earlier this week the Aggies opened up their 2026 campaign with an intrasquad scrimmage in front of the 12th Man that showcased the 8 new faces on the team and the talent Jamie Morrison and his staff assembled through the portal, recruiting, and roster retention with some great pieces returning.
The Aggies enter the season having to replace 9 seniors including 3 all americans and 4 SEC first team selections. They'd have to find a new setter, two new middles, an opposite hitter, an outside hitter, and their Libero. Many position battles have been ongoing since January. There is a lot of talent on this roster and it is nothing but wise to trust this staff. We have many great outside hitters including two all americans at the position. We brought in two great middle transfers, we have two young recruits fighting for the opposite position, and 3 talented underclassmen fighting for the back row spots.
Playing another opponent for the first time since April will be important and a nice change for us. Baylor is a ranked team and in my opinion may be under ranked. They returned some key hitters and grabbed Natalie Ring's old setter who was the Big East Co Freshman of the Year. They have a monster outside hitter tandem in Ksenia Rakhmanchik and Aggie legacy Bailey Warren, daughter of Ty Warren. Our defense will certainly be tested. Baylor has the potential to be a sweet sixteen team this year.
It'll be interesting to see our lineups and how they change throughout the set and match. I won't put too much stock into who the first 6 are. Morrison uses exhibitions to experiment and get girls playing reps. So it'll be interesting to see how they lineup and perform against another opponent. The setter battle and opposite battle are most intriguing to me so let's see how that court time is spread out. I assume we'll play 4 sets, hopefully 5 because the extra reps will help us significantly.
