The national champion is staying in Aggieland.
On Monday, it was announced that Texas A&M head volleyball coach Jamie Morrison has signed a five-year contract extension through the 2031 season.
The extension comes after a historic third season in Maroon & White, leading the Aggies to the program’s first-ever national championship.
On their postseason run, A&M took down three straight No. 1 seeds in the final three rounds to win the NCAA title. The Aggies defeated previously unbeaten Nebraska on their home court, becoming the first team to do so since 2022.
In the Final Four, the Aggies swept their way past Pittsburgh and Kentucky to secure glory.
“Jamie has quickly built a program that is respected nationwide for its level of success on the court,” Alberts said via press release. “He has raised the standard of Aggie volleyball, and I am confident that in the coming years we will see new chapters in his elevation of the volleyball community in and beyond Aggieland. His vision aligns exactly with what we believe Texas A&M should represent. We are thrilled to recognize his tremendous accomplishments and exceptional leadership as he continues to guide our program into an exciting future."
Morrison’s Aggies recorded the best regular season since 1984 and developed four All-SEC selections. He was named AVCA Coach of the Year.
Locked in for another five years, prepare for Morrison to build a powerhouse in Aggieland.
“I would like to thank interim President Tommy Williams, Chancellor Glenn Hegar, the Texas A&M Board of Regents and Director of Athletics Trev Alberts for their faith in my staff and me to lead this incredible group of young women,” Morrison said via press release. “Over the past three years, we’ve proven what everyone believed was possible at Texas A&M, building a program capable of winning championships. The 12th Man has embraced this team, this sport, my family, and we are grateful to call Aggieland home. We have built a strong foundation, we’ve shown what we’re capable of and we’re just getting started.”
