Hoping you all continue to recover. Keep in mind the feeling bad part is actually your immune system responding and fighting the virus, which is actually a good thing. Because it's a new virus your body hasn't seen before, the "dangerous" part is it can continue to multiply within your body without resistance and when that happens in the lungs, that's where it becomes a matter of life and death. It's somewhat rare for that to happen (and apparently even more unlikely with omicron) but it's important to monitor your O2 levels even as you recover.

Wishing you all well. Rest up when you can, but also do some light waking outside (nothing too strenuous). Good luck to you all. Looking forward to you being old pros at kicking covid's ass so you can come back and share your knowledge with others.

Will add, lying on your stomach and breathing "deeply" for 5-7 minutes 4 or 5 times a day! Helps tremendously!

Heartgard could work in a pinch. Helps to have 2 Aggie veterinarians in the family. But that stuff is expensive!!

The Merck drug data coming out is extremely disappointing. Many governments are canceling contracts because they only showed a tiny percent improvement over placebo.

A check of my vitamin D level is standard in my blood work when I have my yearly checkup.

I take Vitamin D 2000 twice daily as prescribed by my doctor. My last check my level was 35 and it said greater than 30 is the desired level.

Bearcat, I was thinking the same thing yesterday. Did I really clear this thing in under 48 hours with only mild fever? No body aches, fatigue or real congestion.. Wondering if my immune system wasn't fighting the virus and I'd be hit with a second wave of illness.

But I've been symptom free since Saturday morning. First symptom was Thursday afternoon. Yesterday and this morning I feel back to 100%.

I hope we are both through this thing. It seems like omicron really is mild for vaxxed and unvaxxed alike.

Yep, the person in our house only had 48 hours of symptoms (headache/fatigue only) and was pretty much back to 100% yesterday

Ok, I've tried to look it up... what is a good number? 12.6 being low...


There isn't a consensus on the ideal vitamin D level. 12.6 is low by any measure though. There have been a lot of recent studies showing a higher optimal level that was previously considered "unsafe". Many of these doctors recommended dosing of 10,000-25,000 iu vitamin D per day.

I've dosed a fairly high amount in preparation for covid. I'm probably going to dial it back now. I got my level checked and I was pretty high. Over 140. The author of "the optimal dose" who treats patients with high dose vitamin D says the optimal range is around 150. However, older guidelines set in the WWII days would consider this level toxic.


Just FYI- high levels of D over time can lead to kidney stones. I was a "victim" of this back in October.

My left lower back just started hurting yesterday. First thing I thought of was a kidney stones, then saw your post. Really hope it's not a kidney stone.

Right now the pain is acute but fairly mild. Doesn't seem to be a muscle pain. I haven't really done any physical exercise besides walking since last Thursday. Not sure when I should see a doctor. I'm hoping it goes away on its own and it's just something I pulled in my sleep.

I am not a doc, so this is based on what I learned after having to have a quasi-emergency lithotripsy. Excessive D and C can contribute to stone formation. But I was also drinking too much sparkling water (carbonated drinks can also be a factor) and I was also eating too many almonds, which can also be a factor. Basically, I created a perfect kidney stone storm and ended up having an 8mm stone blasted out of my ureter. Unfortunately, they didn't do any pathology on the stone so I don't know if it was a calcium issue or the other kind of stone.

All I know for sure is that SOB hurt worse than anything I have ever experienced. It hurt so bad I was throwing up from the pain. Couldn't stop shaking it hurt so bad.

Mine was lower right abdomen so I thought it was appendicitis. Hope you never have to deal with it.
