Hi everyone. I'm vaxxed, not boosted. Sunday, I started having a runny nose and headache, then unbearable cough on Monday. I tested positive with a rapid test Wednesday. The cough is pretty much gone today, and over list sense of smell. I've been a little fatigued and out of sorts, but overall, I haven't had to stay in bed. I'm just taking it easy.

Now, I've been looking all over the place, trying to nail down a timeline for symptoms. I can't find anything. Others who are vaxxed, what can I anticipate the rest of the way?

I wish there was a clear timeline.

TIA

I googled Omicron COVID symptoms yesterday and found a bunch of people who wrote in about their day by day, but naturally can't find it now. My understanding is symptoms typically include
Fatigue
Cough
Sore throat (sometimes something called knives in throat like strep)
Night Sweats

You can research yourself, but here is my basic day by day
  • Sunday night - exterme fatigue, thought initially it was from running earlier in the day, but didn't seem right had chills in night, followed by sweating through a shirt, had to take a shower
  • Monday - woke up to temp of 103, took shower, temp back to normal, took some tylenol, exterme fatigue slept almost all day. Later in the day, started sweating while eating, soaked shirt had to shower then had chills, minor 99 fever
  • Tuesday - fatigue, no temperature, no sweats, tested positive
  • Wednesday 7 am, woke up to "knives in throat", gargled, sucked on some cough drops, took tylenol, pain went away but scratchy throat
  • Thursday / today - discomfort in upper respiratory, dry cough, fatigue, but feel good overall

Of course we had a family get together, no one else in my direct family affected. I will point out everyone affected has been vacinnated except for oldest son, who caught delta earlier and he is clean. Most of us were vaccinated between late April and June, so vaccine could be waning.

Extended family, BIL, daughter tested positive, young daughter is asymptomatic, BIL had bad sore throat and fatigue. BIL had booster
Wife's parents unaffected, thank the lord
Friends of wife who came over, probably spreaders, early 50 adults 2 teenage children, all have it for second time after vaccinations. They have had it all, night sweats, chills, sore throat, fever for 2 days but seem better now

We don't really know if if is strain of delta, omicron or another variant, but so far I think my symptoms have matched what I read online with Omicron. If we all get through it, we should have some good immunity I hope going forward.

I'm only about 80% 12 days in. Still need a nap in the afternoons. If I try to push past I throw up and get dizzy. Did get monoclonal antibodies at day 6 and not sure I would have felt better without them.

Vaxxed, not boosted, third trimester pregnant.

Good to know. My wife is in her second trimester. She tested negative, but has a lot of the similar symptoms. She is vaxxed, not boosted.

Thanks for the info. I was vaxxed in the spring, not boosted.

I haven't had fever or sweats. Your timeline is helpful.

I hope you fell better soon.

Saturday, Dec 18: Kiddo wakes me up at 4am when the storms roll in. I start coughing which isn't unusual for me in rain storms. We have a bay window window that gets musty when it rains. My in-laws were coming in a few days so I had been busting butt to get the house clean and all the Christmas stuff one has to do before the kids were out of school. I spent Saturday exhausted and drained, but stopped coughing once I got out of bed.

Sunday, Dec 19: Woke up feeling pretty good. Got more deep cleaning done. Sent the kids to my parents for the day so we could use the good chemicals to clean. They came back in the evening, I laid down in bed to watch them take a bath around 6pm… physically couldn't get up after that. Husband had to do bedtime which he grumbled about. I took my temperature and it was 99.6. I fell asleep shortly thereafter.

Monday, Dec 20, 3am: I woke up with the worst sinus pressure I've ever had. Temp was hanging out right about 100 (highest it got was 100.3). I wanted to pull out all my teeth. My mouth was so dry it had a layer of white film. I got in the bath and all I could do was cry because my head hurt so much. Regular Tylenol couldn't touch it and that's all the pain medicine I'm allowed during pregnancy without calling the OB first to clear it. Finally around 5-6am I fell asleep in bed sitting up and managed a few hours of sleep. Tested around 10am and it was positive. Sinus pressure continued through the day but was a little better when I was sitting up/moving around.

Tuesday, Dec 21: That night was equally bad and now I was getting sores in my mouth and cracking on my lips from the dry mouth. I could drink 100oz of water during the day and it did nothing for me. Still never got a true fever. Just a lot of congestion and coughing. Never got a sore throat either. Lungs hurt a little bit at the end of today and I started to worry it was going to turn. Never did though.

Wednesday, Dec 22: Lost taste and smell and brain fog set in hard. I couldn't function for more then 10-20 minutes at a time. Light hurt. Sound hurt. I couldn't watch a whole 30 minute TV show. Couldn't play a video game with the kids on the other side of the living room. Lots of napping. Sinuses started to get better though and I could sleep a little more at night.

Thursday & Friday: more of the same as Wednesday. The cold symptoms got to about 60% better and just stopped improving. Brain fog was getting a little worse and was starting to scare me. I was scheduled for monoclonal antibodies at 4pm on Friday and I couldn't drive there myself safely. However, those were a godsend. I hate that it's been weaponized and politicalized. I really think I would have been hospitalized without those because there was no other mechanism to get better. When I got back in the car, I wanted food which is the first time I had been hungry in a few days. My husband said in the drive-thru that I seemed more alert and less like a puddle of goo.

Today, Thursday, Dec 30: still coughing a little, still sneezing and stuffy but it's more on a manageable "allergy" type level. Mouth is still dry, but the cracks and sores have healed. Taste is trying to come back, I could tell the difference between a Diet Coke and a Pepsi today. Smell is still gone. I still have to take a nap in the afternoon or I throw up and get very dizzy, basically my body forces me to lie down. I would say I'm at 80% now. I have no desire to be around people. The thought of getting sick again makes me anxious. I plan on riding that out until the birth in February and if I'm still struggling with it, reach out to my OB. I do feel mentally garbled from the whole thing, but I'm still insanely drained. I would consider my case moderate: more then just a cold, but the lack of fever really helped. I had a flu 10 years ago where I was a lot sicker for a quick period of time and that's because I had a 103 fever for 48 hours. This is the longest I've been sick with one thing. I will be completely honest, I didn't think COVID would affect me this badly. I don't know how it would have gone for me unvaccinated knowing that I got ass whooped this much.

Seems to me it definitely varies person to person. I'm on Day 7 and my headache is still persistent, body is sore and also need a mid-day nap. I lost smell on Day 5 and taste Day 6. I woke up at 2am last night needing to pop another Tylenol. It's nothing I can't handle, just extremely annoying.

I think every individual is different.

My father in law, J&J vaxxed in February, started it with a cough for a few days starting around Christmas Eve, then progressed to fatigue and aches around Day 3 when he got tested. Now he's getting better with just the cough.

Brother in law, Moderna Vaxxed in Spring, 2 days after being around father had a cough one day, aches the next day, getting better by third day.

Mother in law, J&J vaxxed in February, I believe she's only had a slight cough so far.

Wife, Modena vaxxed 2 months ago (and 6 months preggers), cough for a day starting about 2 days after being around father, then terrible headache, body aches, and cough for about 2 days. Now just coughing and light headache.

Me, Moderna vaxxed 2 months ago, slight chest congestion setting in today, about 5 days after being around father in law and being in close contact with my wife the entire time she's been sick, but that's it for me so far.

None of us have lost taste/smell or fever

Day 6 for me now. I had a night of broken sleep, waking up every two hours. I'm still dealing with mild congestion. It's weird that I'm not stuffy. I just feel a deep congestion. I have a slight headache.

Same with us. Sinuses feel clear, but chest congestion.

I'm having symptoms, mostly like allergies. Bad fatigue, some headaches, mild cough. But I can not find a test in Austin, so not sure if I have it. Walgreens has a 7 day wait and 3 places I went today closed. Home tests are being hoarded like TP.

I've been taking vitamins, but is there anything else I should or could be taking? I have had both vac shots, but spread far apart, April and July.

Vaxed and boosted but have not taken a Covid test. Some extended family that were over for Xmas tested positive so definitely have it but did not want to go through the hassle of testing. Overall mild to moderate symptoms best akin to a head cold and mild case of the flu.

Day 1 - sniffles
Day 2-3 - sore throat and sniffles
Day 3-4 - the above accompanied by fatigue, a slight headache, coughing, body aches, and random sweats
Day 5 (today) - feeling on the rebound. More of a hacking cough and I think energy is on the up but will see.

Responded well to advil, not taking anything else. Never took temp so don't know if running high.

My real challenge is I'm out of the country supposed to come home early next week. Not sure how that is going to work out! Anyone faced something similar?

Day 7 for me. I'm feeling better. I still have some congestion and slight headache. Sense of smell and taste are both still gone.

My wife is having issues. She's on day 4 or 5. She can't stop coughing. Today, her throat is on fire. I feel my illness is like a vacation compared to hers. It sucks not being able to do anything to help.

How you feeling on your Day 8? I went to bed at 7:30 and slept okay. Sitting with a heating pad on my back; body is still so achey. Hopeful my headache has now passed but staying on top of the Tylenol.

Thanks for asking. I finally slept well, for like 9 hours straight.

Day 8, slight headache, minimal congestion in head and chest, I have not coughed this morning. I'm not 100%, but not feeling like dog ***** Still no smell or taste.

Vaxxed...no boosters. Second time getting covid.

Got the omnicron and started having first symptoms last Friday. Light fever, massive headache and fatigue. Night sweats on the first night. That said it never really put me down in bed like the first go round, symptoms were overall significantly less than last time I got it. Major symptom throughout the course was general feeling of fatigue.

Was completely back to normal by Thursday.

Day 4 for me. First 3 nights, woke up with fever and headache. Last night was not bad.

Feeling physically better today, except for big sinus congestion. Biggest complaint for me is my ears keep getting backed up. Anyone else having that?

I tested positive this morning. I only tested because my parents live in the house with us and Mr. Geo needs to go into the office Tuesday, plus we have one test kit so I used it.

My symptoms so far:

Yesterday afternoon at about 3 pm I started aching all over. Then I got that chilled feeling that usually accompanies a fever. I took my temp - 99.2. Normal for me is 97.5, so this is a low-grade fever, but nothing really.

By 7 pm my fever went up to 101.7 and I was definitely feeling it. The aching was worse, but not really bad. I took a couple of ibuprofen.

at 9:30 I went to bed with 101.3. Slept okay until about 3 when I woke up sweaty. Temp 98.7. I also had a stuffy nose, so I used a drop of nasal spray to get over that and was fine after.

Today I'm still aching a bit, but it's not terrible. I haven't taken anything for it or the fever, which is hovering around 100.

I feel a little tightness in my upper chest and have coughed with that a few times but it's nothing I would notice if I didn't know I was sick.

I haven't taken any meds other than the ibuprofen last night. I'll probably take more tonight to help me sleep, but I don't really feel that bad.

Oh, I'm vaccinated and boostered with Pfizer, so I'm assuming (and hoping) it stays this mild. I've had much worse colds. My only concern is for my parents and Mr. Geo. They're all vaccinated too, but my parents are old and have health issues, so even a little cold can get serious fast for them.

Day 1: Aches with mild headache.

Day 2: More aches still mild headache, like never been this achy before. That night developed sore throat but slept OK with nighttime cough meds.

Day 3: Sore throat gone, general achiness and headache still there -- everything hurts. 100 degree fever. That night even with nighttime cough meds could only sleep about an hour at a time. Night sweats, an "unproductive cough" all night.

Day 4: Fever broke. Achiness has subsided a bit. Cough still there. Trying not to get my hopes up too much, but hoping this is the tail-end of it.

Day 5: Nope. Achiness still at a mild level, but cough got significantly worse overnight so chest is painful as hell.

2 injections, no booster.

Wife tested positive Saturday morning. Doctor said it is probably omicron as the symptoms are relatively mild.

Day 0 (Thu) - fatigue, sinus pressure, headache
Day 1 - fatigue, sinus pressure, dry cough, headache, low grade fever
Day 2 - tested positive, felt a little better later in the day
Day 3 - low grade fever gone, occasional cough and sinus pressure

Me:
Day 0 (Sun afternoon) - chills, low grade fever, aches, scratchy throat at night
Day 1 - Woke up after little sleep, nauseated, slight cough, low grade fever, aches, little sinus pressure.

Both of us vaccinated with JnJ in February. Not boosted. I hope this moves on quickly.

I'm on Day 9. I woke up this morning, fairly clear. I'm a little tired. I haven't taken anything and feel ok. We'll see how the rest of the day goes. I can catch hints of the smell of my coffee.

My wife is on Day 7. She is still tired, still coughing (but not as much). She has had a whale of a time with symptoms. Her severe congestion showed up yesterday.

went to NYC Dec 14-16.

Dec 17 - woke up with a sore throat
Dec 18 - sore throat and just feeling "off"
Dec 19 - woke up feeling like I just had my booster shot plus more bodyaches went to get tested and tested positive
Dec 20 - bodyaches, fatigue, sore throat, sinus issues
Dec 21 - same as above
Dec 22 - back to 100% normal; did not have any symptoms

Day 3: aching all but gone. Fever all but gone. Sinus issues worse, cough a little worse.

When i woke up this morning I thought I was getting a sore throat but my first cup of tea took care of it.

All I've taken is one dose of DayQuill. I'll probably hit the NyQuill and a drop if nasal spray tonight and sleep fine like last night.

I feel like this is where i'm at on Day 5. The aches and the fever aren't a factor any longer, but the cough has become worse. Very manageable with cold meds, I just hate feeling like a zombie all day long on meds.

16 days later I have finally made it to a day where my body didn't force me to nap in the afternoon with vomiting and dizziness. I'm 95% better. Still slightly congested, still cough (especially when I talk a lot), and still can't really smell. The only weird new thing is that I feel like I can smell my body and it smells like rank BO, so I've been showering multiple times a day. Not sure if it's sweat related or part of the nose issue.

Yeah, I avoid the meds if I can... that's one reason I got vaccinated and boosted. I was hoping to avoid the worst of it if I could...and it seems to have worked. (And before the anti-vaxers jump on me, yes, I know some people have mild cases even without the vaccine, I get that, but I tend to get sick easily and have some health problems, so I'm happy to be getting off so lightly so far.)

I'm on Day 4 and other than a runny nose I'm pretty much over it. Slept fine last night - no coughing or anything. I did take NyQuil before bed but didn't get up and take anything else.

I'm also not experiencing any of the fatigue people usually complain about with Covid. In fact, I'm having to force myself to not "over-do" (Mr. Geo's words). I'm taking it easy, but getting some things done today. A friend of mine spent three days in bed when she got covid, so I'm really glad I don't feel that bad.
