Omicron took over pretty quickly, yes? Impressive spread capability.


Yes it is very impressive. Multiple national and international health experts are saying 50% positivity rates on testing which is bonkers. When the NFL and NBA breakthroughs started a few weeks ago I figured that was Omicron. The case numbers are going to be insane with this wave but it seems relatively mild thank God.

T Cells have a much longer "memory", correct? So a vaxxed (6+ mo ago) but not boosted should still have a good chance my mild disease.

Obviously unvaxxed higher risk and boosted lowest but it's not like unboosted = unvaxxed like the CDC is suggesting.

I'm pretty sure I read an article in 2020 to that said people who got the original SARS had T cells defending against COV-2 18 years later which is insane.

1st time since omicron there was a single-day decrease in hospitalizations and the 7 day avg should be hitting that mark pretty quickly. That first chart should be filled out in green rather soon.

These are terrific charts!!

So, the first graph shows the rate of change in hospitalizations, right? Meaning, if it's red then we are increasing the number of hospitalizations and if its green, we are decreasing the number of hospitalizations.

Just want to make sure I'm reading the chart right.

Correct! And yeah his charts are great.


I was doing a similar setup for TX regions before I found his (mine aren't as fancy).

For example, San Antonio seems to follow the same trend. The holiday reporting seems to skew some day to day but overall should be seeing negatives really soon.

Good news around here. DFW cases are way down over the weekend. Have a friend working at a major hospital and ER census was down to 30 for a lot of the weekend. For reference, capacity is about 80 beds and their average total census has been around 200 since last summer.

There was a bad cold going around at thanksgiving. Every single person I know got it and was sick. If we measured all these colds we would never calm down. The numbers were as high or higher than omicron I bet.
