Lancet has a new study this week that compares the amount of antibodies produced by boosters.

What makes this study great is it shows different combinations of mixing & matching boosters. So, you can look at the tables to see which booster to get based on what your first two shots were.

For instance, if you got Pfizer for your first two doses:
(95% CI range in parentheses)
Pfizer full dose: 26,171 (21,245 - 32,239
Pfizer half dose: 27,498 (20,109-37,602)
Moderna booster: 30,654 (22,916 - 41,004)

I'm really glad the 2 above me posted that because I was feeling stupid about half way through myself.

So if I had Pfizer and want a booster which should I take?

If you have a choice, I would say Moderna, but either Pfizer or Moderna perform well

Dumb it down for me whose primary series was Pfizer and got a Pfizer booster.

I hope we get some data on duration of immunity from boosters soon. I got one in August and already thinking about a 4th shot (which I have no issue with, unless it's not needed for some time).

I'm guessing Israel might have the first round of data on this since they were (I think) the first to roll out boosters?

With how insanely high the titers are in that study I am pretty confident that the spaced third dose is going to give good protection for several years. In the Texas Cares study they can't measure > 2500 on spike protein and that linked study was showing titers in the 25,000-30,000 range!

Now boosters to variants, specifically Omicron, are likely coming in my professional opinion.

Nope. But early reports out of South Africa are showing a significant increase in hospitalization of young kids.

I previously would have said NO to the shot for a 5yo. Should this change my mind?

Not yet, it is early. We should have more information in a month give or take.

I have younger-ish kids so definitely keeping my eye out on this but so far pretty optimistic.

One to two more weeks and we should have a lot more clarify.

Man, really hoping Omicron spells the end of Covid as a virus we need to be concerned about.

I'll look into it tomorrow but it is discouraging for sure. It also depends which vax it is.

The Lancet article is a difficult read, so I suggest going straight to the tables (different table for each of the different first dose(s) ) to see which booster is best for you.

Welp just read the current Moderna booster is a 1/2 dose of the original. So the third shot I got back in August I thought was a booster was a full dose I guess, like the first two? Might get my antibodies checked now.

You might have to wait a long time because no matter what the data says, it's not true unless its "peer reviewed".

Israeli data is consistent with Denmark data but its not peer reviewed so make sure to get your quarterly booster.
