Here's how I handled it.

It wasn't Covid until it was if that makes any sense.

I felt a little under the weather so I wore a mask all day that day, once my smell left I knew what it was and got tested.

I have grass allergies, so my Covid symptoms never became clear until my smell left.

You know, I had to think about why I think that.

It's my mother. Every time I was sick and got better my mom would tell me not to push myself or I might get sick again.

Didn't even realize why I thought that. I think I'm going to lift weights today, I miss it!

That's a mom's job! Mine will do the same.

When I read, "it's my mother," I heard my mother in my head saying, "Ya go lay down. I'll bring you some caldo and put some vicks on you in a minute."

Something else I thought I'd add after a conversation I had yesterday.

I was in my front yard yesterday when my neighbor asked why I was home and told her I had Covid but was getting over it and doing fine. Her response "no wonder, you work out all the time"

I definitely think the health your in at the time helps, seems like common sense but I think how much you work out can help you kick covids ass. Along with the vaccine, my age, and health I think it made it mild for me.

I know a lady my age who is also vaccinated but is recovering much slower. Only difference is she's very unhealthy.

My doctors (regular one and GI) told me the same thing. They both acted like they'd never even be worried about me b/c I train hard. I just wish more people would workout hard (relative to them of course) on a very regular basis. If they did, Covid would have never been a big deal. Like, as in less than the flu. For that matter, it would pretty much negate most illnesses for most people.

I was a runner for about 8 years and switched to barbell strength training right before my son was born.

So, all through Covid (and still) I was barbell strength training, really as a result of feeling frail from just running.

My grandma at the time was so frail and kept falling and died as a result. Made me realize strong people are harder to kill, so I just started that type of training and have never looked back.

Yep, a moms voice is always in the back of your head, even if you don't realize it.

I wish the powers that be would have stressed physical health and activity from the get go instead of distance and staying indoors.

Has anyone come out and said "Hey, if you want to better your chances here, start with some physical activity and maybe eat a little healthier?" No. Because they don't care about you.

The scare tactics that have been used from day one have only made things worse.

Yes, I understand that some people cant be physically active. I get it. But there are small decisions that we all make each and every day that can better our outlook if we just try.

It's a symptom of our entire healthcare system. It's easier to push a drug (vaccine) on someone than it is to push them to better themselves through exercise and diet.

Oh yea, I get it. I just wish more people were keen to the game.

I mean, I shouldn't have to rely on a post from an Aggie Dr. on TexAgs to figure out the type and amount of vitamins I should take to prepare my body to fight the virus. That kind of stuff should be shouted from the rooftops.

The fact that it hasn't been speaks volumes of our 'ruling class'.

I don't disagree entirely but sometimes that simply doesn't hold true as in the case of my friends 30 year old daughter who was both a transplant nurse and marathon runner. She had no underlying conditions and she passed away of Covid. Life can be very cruel. That said, I definitely believe my overall fitness would be a positive should I get Covid. I just know it's far from a guarantee.

No doubt that with a vaccine that individual would still be with us.

That's why I think it's important to get vaccinated no matter your health profile, you just don't know.

I know you agree that your health profile, along with the vaccine and your age can all lead to an easier time clearing the virus.

Once again this is my opinion.

The reason is that those vitamins do almost nothing to help your body fight off the virus. I say this as someone that takes C, D, and a couple of others daily - whch I do for my long term health (there is some meaningful evidence for this), but not with the hopes that they would really slow the replication of a virus.

Of course vitamins cant help slow virus replication. That was not my point.

The point I was trying to make is that there are things we can do to help prepare our bodies to fight any infection, COVID or otherwise. Those include giving your body what it needs nutrient wise (vitamins and food) and preparing your body physically (any type of exercise).

These two things have not been talked about near enough throughout the pandemic. Its been all 'stay inside, cower in fear, here get this jab'.

I am vaccinated. My symptoms started 8/22 and today I am 100% recovered. Was it the vaccine? Maybe. But I exercise seven days/week and take my vitamins. It would be foolish to think that my physical health didn't also play a part in my recovery.

It's both. Physical health and modern medicine. But we only hear and talk about the latter. It shouldn't be that way.

Wondering now if Covid didn't start with my 1 and a half year of son. My wife and I put a timeline together today as follows.

My son goes back to daycare on August 4th, by that Sunday August 8th he starts to have a runny nose and a cough at night by mid week. By the weekend of August 14th he seems fine, nagging cough sometimes in the morning but over all good.

That Friday my wife feels BAD like major congestion like me, doesn't think anything of it really. Takes her four days to clear up so by August 18th she seems like shes better. She looked back at her resting heart rate on that Friday she felt bad, it was 108 its usually 60.

My first Covid symptoms started Friday the 20th with me losing smell on the 25th leading me to get tested.

So, maybe it ran through my house? No way of telling I guess but maybe that's how i got it.

My wife is still dealing with some nagging congestion and my son still coughs a bit but only when he's laying down and right when he wakes up from a nap or sleep.

I brought it in. So far have kept others clean. Lots of hand washing, lots of Lysol, lots of me being isolated.

fully vaccinated, got covid five days ago.

basically chest and head cold-like symptoms. my office manager likely got it from me and tested positive today and she is fully vaccinated. We'll see how it hits our 7-person office.
