Just tested positive for Covid after being fully vaccinated.

I wouldn't have gone and gotten tested but I completely lost my smell last night. Before I had what I thought was a head cold.

For reference I'm a jr high teacher, I know I've had at least 3 sick kids In my class, willing to bet there's been a lot more.

Overall I feel fine, I don't even have a fever. Should I do anything other than keep to myself, drink water, and walk a lot?

Just so you folks know, only symptoms have been congestion, which is now leaving, and zero smell. Nothing else. I'm also 32 male and fully vaccinated with moderna.

Appreciate it, hopefully I make it though it quick and without any issues.

So far I don't even feel sick outside of the congestion I had, like not even achy.

Usually when I have a cold I can feel it, this was just flat out congestion. Also the smell loss was so crazy, that's why I got tested, without that I'd probably be teaching today.

I'm just curious where I am in the infection.

I have the same symptoms that you had/have. It feels mainly like allergies/cold.

Hopefully we are both over the worst of this thing and on the mend.

I had been re-infected with natural immunity, and had the same symptoms you two are describing. I'm 40.

Felt like a sinus infection. little bit of drainage, turning into stuffy nose for 3 days. then went away.

I've know a few others who have been re-infected in my circle of friends. I mention this to anecdotally say, it appears naturally immunity is fairly similar to fully vaccinated in my circle.

I still may get the Pfizer but like some others on here trying to do as much due diligence as possible about side effects. We don't know the long term effects. We have line of sight to near-term / acute side effects so that is helpful.

A good friend of mine in her 60s (healthy weight and history), fully vaccinated with Pfizer, was Covid+ about three weeks ago now. She reported very mild sinus drainage and a low fever for a few days, and then a bit of loss of smell, but taste was fine. She's back to full normal now. For her, the vaccine seemed to work well to reduce severity of symptoms.

I sat right next to her at church for over an hour a couple of days before she tested positive (and after she was exposed to where she thinks she got it), and never got it (negative for antibodies), so I feel pretty good about my vaccine working, too.

I've had 4 friends age 50+ who have had covid this summer after full vaccination in the spring. Nothing worse than cold symptoms in 3 of them and one was completely asymptomatic.

I feel like I'm getting away with something being home right now and not working.

It's odd, I hope it stays this mild.

This is amazing.

Get a pulse oximeter at your local CVS/Walgreens and constantly check your blood oxygen levels.

Many don't feel out of breath even when their blood oxygen levels plunge to beneath 90. At which point you SHOULD be going to the ER.

It's critical to get early intervention if your blood oxygen levels are low.

Just got the 3rd Moderna booster after my doctor cleared it, and the side effects currently are far nastier than what y'all are describing here with breakthrough cases. Still happy to have gotten it, but its kicking my butt fierce, and the first two shots 8 months ago barely had any effects.

(No I'm not Governor Abbott!)

Don't scare me. My biggest side effect for the two shots was a killer headache.

Our school nurse is religious about her mask.

Never takes it off and wears an n95, she has Covid now too.

I have a neighbor with a PHD in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics. She always wore a mask and was one of my few friends who caught covid.

hopefully, she is vaxxed, has a short course of illness, and will then be bulletproof

She is, sounds like she's just like me.

She only got tested based off suspicion, not because she felt bad.

We are about to have a bullet proof staff in about 2 weeks.

The number of breakthrough cases should be alarming no?
How many of these positive covid cases were once simple colds or allergies that we all dealt with from time to time but now are testing for covid? If covid is never going away and vaccines only slow transmission for a period of time, what are the next steps?
