Either way, I think there is enough to say there is similar immunity for both and one being better than other is likely slim and not really worth discussion.

According to your link, the incidence rate of myocarditis in vaccinated teens is 6.3 per 100k. Meanwhile the hospitalization rate for the same age group has fluctuated between 0.6 and 2.1 per 100k per CDC.Sandman98 said:

1) Even the mention of the potential for autoimmune responses to the vax has us spooked (especially having a T1D sister)

Edit: both are fit and active but 13 had allergy induced asthma as a kid that he appears to have outgrown. Two hospital stays as a youngster but hasn't needed even a puffer in a few years.

My three boys (9,12,14) all got it and bounced back in 2-3 days with nothing more than Tylenol. Vaccinating kids is pointless, the best way to confer immunity is via host infection.
I wouldn't say its pointless. Kids spread the virus to the rest of our unvaxxed holdouts. Anything we can do to stop the proliferation without having to add restrictions should be done IMO.
"without having to add restrictions" is pretty specific.96ags said:On an individual level that is a rather benign comment, but on a collective it could be incredibly dangerous in my opinion.Ag Natural said:raging_agaholic said:

"Anything" is very broad.
just to clarify, that 6.3 per 100k is a one time risk, and the 0.6-2.1 per 100k is a weekly risk. To better compare, the 12-17 age group had cumulative a risk of being hospitalized from COVID of 50.3 per 100k over the previous 52 weeks.Fenrir said:According to your link, the incidence rate of myocarditis in vaccinated teens is 6.3 per 100k. The more unvaccinated people, the more cases, the more variants, the more breakthrough cases. If only it were as simple as natural selection but it is not.SoupNazi2001 said:Ag Natural said:raging_agaholic said:

They are choosing to not get vaccinated.
Variants are much more likely to come from countries with <10% vaccinations. We should be worried much more at a global level than in the US where we have extremely high vax rates.bay fan said:The more unvaccinated people, the more cases, the more variants, the more breakthrough cases. The best way to go back to normal is to end restrictions. Your anger should be with government, not people who don't won't to get the vaccine. Only one of those two groups is violating your freedom.
I'm vaccinated. I don't wear a mask haven't for a year (excluding planes), have been on three vacations in the last nine months, kids are starting school sans mask Monday.
Texas is back to normal if you want it to be. I know some of you think I'm just trolling but I'm not. There is a significant percentage of people out there and on this site that have put their lives on hold out of fear. That depresses me. We're all going to die. You only get one life, start living it.

It's not even just 3rd world nations. South Korea, Russia, new Zealand and Australia are all sub 20%, Japan is sub 40%.
If the argument is that low vaccination rates mean more variants then *****ing at Americans is essentially preaching to the choir, meanwhile our overall rate's significance is diminished by extremely low participation rates throughout large parts of the rest of the world.

Which leader are you speaking about specifically?
50% is not an extremely high rate of vaccination when it's free and readily available and we have doses expiring. If the US did have a very high rate of compliance, variants spreading in other countries would have a tougher time taking hold here. As it is, that's clearly not the case.ORAggieFan said:Variants are much more likely to come from countries with <10% vaccinations. Sadly your last statement is not true. The delta variant is spreading pretty well even in countries with 90% + vaccination rates (see UK & Israel).bay fan said:50% is not an extremely high rate of vaccination when it's free and readily available and we have doses expiring. This is a constantly parroted point about "natural immunity" but there is no clear cut evidence natural immunity is any better than vaccine-conferred immunity.
