Woke up with some symptoms this morning and need to know by tomorrow if it's COVID or not. Is the rapid test my best bet or would a lab test be done by then?

How long are lab tests taking to turn around?

Rapid test is your answer. PCR lab outside of a hospital is taking 2-3 days to turn around.
Some places will do both at the same time, but I couldn't tell you where exactly.

Walgreens has the ID NOW test that promises results in less than 24 hours and Rapid Antigen Test which is less than one hour.
Austin Emergency Center has in house lab. Gave results after around 6 hours instead of 2-3 days.

Rapid has very poor sensitivity (lots of false negs) especially early in the course. Close to 50% by most measures. I never do them.
PCR's at my location (St Jo in College Station) always come back first thing in the morning the next day.

CVS has turned the last two in 12 and 18 hours respectively.
CVS on Saturday got mine back to me in 26 hours
