Mine was back in a week or less, I've heard stories of it taking months.

Did hear tho that people who lost taste and smell had better long term immunity / antibodies. I'd have to try and find the article
I wonder too what baseline people have. My husband usually has much less sense of smell to begin with, as he is allergic to everything. I think I have a pretty keen sense of smell - things bother me quickly that other people can ignore. I have no idea when or if I will get that kind of sensitivity back.

Would be nice to find that this is an indication of long term immunity!

It has been 2 weeks since I first started with loss of smell and I have just started to get my sense of smell and taste back. What has worked for me is nasal saline lavage and smelling perfume/cologne and essential oils.

Took about 4 or 5 weeks for me to fully regain taste.

Interesting, wonder if this would help if there's isn't any congestion present along with the loss of smell

there was some discussion on here early on about the benefits of use with this (including use with baby soap included). we use them frequently for sinus and allergy issues (congestion or not) and they work well.

in the end, as they are OTC, there is no "harm" from them if used as instructed (distilled water, warmed, etc.)

You have a link to that discussion? Any recommendations on a certain version to use?and how does the baby soap work?

I woke up Thursday 1/14 with no taste or smell. Got tested. Positive. Got the monoclonal antibody infusion Thursday afternoon. So far I have had no symptoms other than the loss of taste and smell. Is the loss of the senses typically an early symptom? TIA.

Is anyone aware of info on these monoclonal antibody treatments and how they work with vaccines? My Dad and sister have both had them - his being within 10 days of when they were approved for emergency use back in Nov. I read the literature from the manufacturer and it mentioned that there was potential for interference with future vaccines. I'm sure it's too early for any meaningful studies at this point and couldn't really find any real discussion on it. But the government and lots of physicians sure are urging it to be used more when it makes sense based on the case.

I guess a big part of that is fighting the fire that is currently burning instead of one that may or may not exist in the future.

Started feeling "funny" on Wednesday afternoon. Woke up with a tiny cough and a tickle in my throat. Went to bed early and got 8 hours.

Thursday morning I felt like I had the early parts of a really bad winter cold: cough, low fever, sore throat. I then started getting nervous maybe I had it.

Yesterday morning I felt a bit better than I did Thursday. But at lunch, I was eating a salad with a citrus dressing and noticed I couldn't taste anything. Added salt and pepper, still nothing. So, I grabbed the cholula bottle, put some on my tongue, and nada. I could tell my tongue was reacting to the heat but no taste.

I scheduled a test right then and got tested yesterday afternoon, did the swab. Went to bed early again last night and got 8 hours. Woke up to no sense of taste or smell. I grabbed a very vanilla-scented candle out of the bathroom, took a big whiff, and nothing registered. I should get test results back tomorrow, and I'm expecting they'll be positive.

I get my daily dose of vitamins A-D on a daily basis, but I'm adding Zicam and taking Tylenol PM at night to knock me out. Had a friend bring me a few bottles of pedialiyte to help me stay hydrated. No shortness of breath issues yet thankfully.

I feel lucky to say that the most annoying thing so far is not being able to taste or smell.

Thank you. Feeling about the same as I did yesterday. No worse but no better. Hoping it's just a mild case.

Got results yesterday, positive as I expected. Feeling good today. Slight fever but much less severe than Friday or Saturday. Stuffy nose is almost cleared up. Throat soreness is at the least painful since symptoms began.

Continuing to drink a ton of fluids (over 4 liters/day). Taking vitamins and supplements. I'm hoping I'm over the hump. I've been walking to the park near my house in the early afternoons and reading for about an hour just to get some sunshine. I wear a mask and will walk into the street to avoid people if I notice someone is on the same sidewalk as me. I feel like getting outside, getting blood moving, and being in the sun has been a tremendous psychological help for me.

No taste or smell still. Using it as an excuse to eat all the bland, healthy food and drop some lbs.

Day 1 - awful headache and low grade fever. PCR positive.

Day 2-3 - no fever, but intermittent headache and achy

Day 3-4 - Head congestion sets in....feels like allergies. Still achy and weak.

Day 5-6 - Intense fatigue. Never felt my body so tired. Slept 10-11 hours straight both nights (normally sleep 5 hours).

Day 6 - lost smell. can't smell a candle or even a Sharpie pen. Still fatigued. My back hurts from laying in bed. Moderate dry cough. Headache returns.

Day 7-9 - Lost taste. Then developed this bitter, metallic taste in mouth that is awful. Like when you throw-up and then brush your teeth, but the vomit taste overpowers the toothpaste. Food doesn't even sound good. Coughing quite a bit.

Day 10 - Smell and taste returns. Still get the bitter taste at night. Fatigued, but not as bad.

Day 11 - Slight cough and fatigue. Get tested again and it's negative.

Day 12 - Fatigue.

Day 13 - Slight, but able to return to society and coach my son's first flag football game yesterday.

What's crazy is that my wife and son never got it. I started isolating from them on Day 2 when the PCR results came back, but my wife sat in the car with me for 2 hours while I was waiting to get tested. This crap is so random.

Luckily, mine was relatively minor and I seem to be over it for the most part.

Day 1 - Head feels a little off, a bit of an ache

Day 2 - Headache much worse, dry cough, runny nose

Day 3 - Cough turns wet, headache slightly better, still just feel off

Day 4 (today) - Headache gone but head feels a little off, no cough, have to clear throat every so often... Runny nose not AS bad, but still runny (clear mucus)

Haven't run a fever, haven't lost smell/taste, cough was bad Saturday, but never lost sleep over it.

Cautiously optimistic- I know a lot of people have reported it getting really bad a week in, so I'm not out of the woods, but my condition has improved every day since day 2.

I can't do a nettipot. So I do the poor man's version. When I come home I use Unscented natural hand soap up my nose to kill the virus and then wash it out. Also use PVP-Iodine diluted with a little saline.

Rapid test positive today.
Saturday-lower abdominal slight pressure/pain. Figured gas. No big deal. No appetite, had dinner only.

Sunday-still dull pain when moving, driving over speed bump, etc. Diarrhea in the afternoon. Christened a new grill with pork belly burnt ends and wings. Still no appetite hardly ate. Just a general blah feeling. Wife took my temp and was 101.1. Slight body aches and the chills at night.

Today-this morning abdomen still not right. No fever, aches or chills anymore. Other than stomach felt fine. Wife worried about appendix, said to get it checked. PCP wouldn't see me with fever last night. Said to go to ER. They did rapid test and blood work and gave me an IV for hydration. Rapid test came back positive and blood work high on white blood cells, meant infection. Did CT and determined I have Diverticulosis. Gave me an IV bag of antibiotics sent me home. Liquid diet until pain is gone. Two different antibiotics and the standard regime of vitamins for the Covid. So hopefully the fever and chills yesterday were related to the Diverticulosis infection and not Covid and I'm asymptomatic on that end. Besides the abdominal sensitivity and diarrhea I feel normal.

Not aware of being around anyone positive.

Anyone with experience or insight on how long after positive test with no Covid symptoms, I should be in the clear as a totally asymptomatic case?
cc_ag92
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Ten days from a positive test if you had no symptoms

Ten days from onset or symptoms with at least 24 hours since last fever and improvement of other symptoms

Good luck with your recovery from both

Today is my day 7 (started feeling symptoms last Wednesday). I've been monitoring my breathing pretty closely to make sure everything is still as I'm used to, and so far so good. Today is the best I've felt since symptoms started. Lots of sleep and lots of water. Some stats: I'm in my late 20's, 5'10" and weigh around 225. I do stay quite active and train 4-5 days/week. My resting heart rate is around 54-55 bpm, but it's been cruising at around 60 the last few days.

As I understand, days 7-9 are typically the days where you're either in the clear or it takes a turn for the worse. I'm hoping this thing runs its course. Still no taste or smell. Can't even register the jar filled with homemade curry powder I made for tikka masala last week.

I've read of people roasting an orange and eating it and that helping with the olfactory piece, anyone tried?

Wife 39- Medium flu-like symptoms. Coughed her butt off for a few days. Loss of taste and smell and also massive ear congestion made her hearing almost go to. After two weeks taste and smell coming back and ear problems going away.

Me 39- overweight with high blood pressure. Taste dulled but didn't lose completely. Very fatigued for a few days with a small headache. Nothing else at all.

Its a weird bug for sure.

Just got the news of positive PCR test that I took on Sunday. Been taking Dr. Rev's regimen pretty consistently for a while and got real consistent with it over the weekend. O2 has stayed pretty consistent between 96-98 the whole time. For reference, I'm male, mid 30's and pretty active and no known conditions.

Day 1 - I think was 1/14 or 1/15. Noticed allergy like symptoms, nothing I hadn't felt before.
Day 2 - Same as before plus starting to feel a little tired. Went for a jog and noticed I ran out of breathe a lot quicker than normal and needed a couple extra breaks.
Day 3 - Had some chills most of that day and into the night. GI tract issues started and no appetite. Started losing smell and taste. Didn't sleep well and would go hot and cold. Still feeling really winded all day just going up and down stairs. Resting HR seemed to be about 10-15 bpm above avg.
Day 4 - Still had some chills. GI tract issues continue and no appetite. Still winded doing most things.
Day 5 (today) - Still not much appetite, a little nauseous but getting better. Still no taste or smell. Resting HR mostly normal again and more energy. Started taking Ivermectin and another dose in 3 days.

Day 30 yesterday for me and it was as good as I've felt since the weekend before Christmas.

Still limited smell and taste. Little allergy stuff going on to make things interesting with a cough and congestion.

I've been having one good day where I do a lot of work then crashing the next day from exhaustion and fatigue. At first 15 minutes of straightening out the garage would force me to lay down for three or four hours. This past Saturday and Sunday I did too much with yard type work and Monday was a lost day where I had to take a nap and had the old vertigo and nauseating, just sick feeling.

Yesterday was a good day and today I feel okay so I'm hopeful I've taken another step back to normal. For me this thing has never been as downright painful and miserable as a bad flu where you're in bed and just SICK. However, I'd take three days of flu over this anytime and be very happy about it.

Day 8 today. COVID knocked me flat out yesterday evening. I was in bed by 9:30pm. Last night was the first time I noticed trouble trying to take a deep breath. It's like I'm riding a bike up a hill, and right before I get to the top and go down the other side I get stopped and sent back down. But then a few seconds later I try again and it's all clear.

Taste and smell are coming back this morning. Fried some bacon and it was very relieving being able to smell that. Taste returning is so-so. It comes and goes.

Day 6 (today) - Less sinus pressure, now more stuffy than anything, lost smell and taste but headache is gone

Sounds similar to my wife. She's on about day 9 and feeling pretty good most days minus smell and taste. Wasn't until this morning that she described the similar breathing feeling. She doesn't feel short of breathe and O2 is good, just mainly on taking deep breathes. She was feeling about 90% better yesterday morning and wondering if she pushed it too hard, too early thinking she was in the clear.

Im similar, my kid tested positive Saturday and today is just the kinda foggy, woke up with a mild headache, a little runny nose day - a little throat tickle that results in a very small dry cough. taste/smell all still good.

I havent gotten tested or anything, frankly i dont really care to.

Well, I took the plunge as well.

This is a weird, weird bug.

I woke up Friday with a tingly throat and with allergy symptoms. I have allergies damn near six months out of the year and this felt no different.

Fast-forward to Monday:

Monday afternoon: Intense sinus pressure, slight headache, no fever
Monday night: Intense sinus pressure, slight headache, no fever
Tuesday: intense sinus pressure, lost about 40% of my taste/smell
Wednesday: sinus pressure lessened, still same taste smell (positive PCR came back)
Thursday: sinus pressure resolved, very little congestion, taste/smell still the same

I'm not sure about everyone else, but you can definitely tell it's not a normal cold/sinus infection by about the 3-4 day.

Lost taste and smell 2.5 weeks ago. Tested positive the next day. Isolated for 7 days. No major symtoms. No fever, no persistant cough, no trouble breathing. 2 days after losing taste and smell I felt a bit fatigued and had a very small amount of tightness in my chest. That lasted less than 24 hrs. After the 7 day isolation period I had about 50% of my normal energy level for 4-5 days and a midly upset stomach for 3-4 days.

During isolation I took Vit C, D, and zinc. Never had issue sleeping. Taste and smell is back to I would say 75-80%. Still cant really taste beer, just tastes like carbonated water (sucks).

Now, I'm back to 100%

And hell no, I'm not getting the shot

Other than that, nothing.

I haven't gone through all the posts so maybe it's already been addressed, but I'm on day 6 of fever but it's only in the late afternoon/evening. Anyone else experiencing this? My max fever was 101.1 on night 1, usually about 100.3-100.7 in the evening since. Mornings and most afternoons are fever free.
