I have follwed the TMC link for two to three weeks. Yesterday, they removed all graphs and charts related to ICU capacity and percentage COVID patients supposedly after talking with Governor Abbott which he denies. Link to article:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/houston-hospitals-stop-reporting-covid-19-related-data-after-reaching-base-icu-capacity-report/ar-BB1656hh?li=BBnb7Kz

The last update posted was Thursday and the graph indicated a base capacity of 1330 ICU beds and excess surge capacity of roughly 2400 beds, with 1325 beds currently filled. There was also another graph that showed that approximately 20% of ICU patients were COVID19 thru 6/21/20 up from 13-14% several weeks ago(state requies that 15% of bed be held back for COVID), and they were seeing a 5-7% growth of COVID patients on a daily basis. Another graph showed that at current rate of increase that they would hit the 2400 surge number on July 6th. They modified other graphs as well.

Here Texas Medical Center metrics website link

Will look to seek if I can find any of the old images.

Don't hospitals typically run at a high ICU census?

Yes, this is conveniently left out of the medical stories that the local news is hitting us with.

I think they were just retooling how they were showing the data. This is on their website this morning.

Yes, they were retooling the graphs fo make them easier to understand. The media and masses were taking the data and not understanding that we normally run at 95% ICU capacity. They also were not reading that only about 25% of our ICU capacity were Covid patients. This was not a nefarious act by TMC CEOs but instead to update the charts for folks who are not in our field to better understand the data.

Don't get hung up on exact numbers, but I think the hospitals have gone for a 4 to a 6 on the level of concern. Meanwhile the public went from a 2 to a 9. I think they are trying to communicate better which I appreciate.

This is well said.

Also the majority of media went from an 8 to a 47.
