On March 1st, we had 75 confirmed cases in the whole US and on April 1st we had 243,000. You can't just point to some small numbers today to downplay the disease. Clearly, if left to fester, it can grow exponentially and be lethal.
Could you please update periodically? As someone with a pregnant wife, I'm very interested in thisWendy 1990 said:

I know 4, all confirmed. They're all fine. Said it wasn't fun, but nothing major.
One of them is a friend of mine's husband. She was telling me about how the day before he passed out in the shower and she rushed him to the hospital. It sounded extremely bad, and I asked her if he was going to be ok... She then sent me a pic of him playing Call of Duty from later that night.

How long before the 4 felt like themselves again and how would they compare it to other things?

She woke up last Monday (a week ago) with a fever and a cough. Tested and came back positive. No symptoms by Friday and is still looking good this week. Very mild case.BowSowy said:Could you please update periodically? As someone with a pregnant wife, I'm very interested in thisWendy 1990 said:

Not a flat-earther and only go to the politics board to get blood pressure pumping. Staying isolated and irate about those who aren't because their keeping us from eventually returning to our lives. Feel like this is a couple months from being over and end of the year before the economy starts to function.
However - I understand OP's original question. New York/New Orleans/New Jersey have been hit horribly. Lots have died, hospitals don't have beds or vents, and you should legitimately be fearful of walking outside just to get to the grocery store.
5k Texans have been diagnosed (.019% ). 90 (.0003%) have died. Our hospitals aren't over run with corona - but everyone is doing their darnedest to stay away. We've posted how may people have died in Wars over our history, first google I got for biggest killers in the US was 2017(link)
- Heart disease: 647,457
- Cancer: 599,108
- Accidents (unintentional injuries): 169,936
- Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 160,201
- Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 146,383
- Alzheimer's disease: 121,404
- Diabetes: 83,564
- Influenza and pneumonia: 55,672
- Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 50,633
- Intentional self-harm (suicide): 47,173
That's a total of 2.1 million. I hope this disease doesn't reach this level - and would be a historical disaster. Will that mean a
Little secret that isn't happening right now with the pandemic...routine preventative care. No yearly mammograms or colonoscopies, no one getting that mole checked out or checking in with their doctors for their yearly checkup. How many additional deaths will happen because of that?
Feel like the accident number should go down - but will others go up? Quite honestly, what are the stats of Covid patients that already had some of these diseases and were in bad shape to begin with? How many had statistical life expediencies of less than a few years? Some sites are giving up to 80% of deaths come from 65+ and I would assume had underlying health conditions in the first place.
I am doing what my government and society are telling me to do - social distancing, etc. Will continue until we all collectively say ok. That doesn't mean that it isn't ok to ask questions and understand more. For many people - this won't hit anyone they know (I don't know anyone personally). Hospitals in Bryan/College Station doesn't look anything like Hospitals in New York.
By the way - fully unqualified to make any bold predictions or stand on soapboxes.

This reminds me of reading the boards right before Harvey. There were a small group of people downplaying the hurricane saying everyone was dumb for bunkering down and that its not going to be bad. They even said they were at or going to one of the big bars that friday night Harvey hit and riding it out there... boy were they wrong.TxAG#2011 said:
I seriously cannot comprehend how this isn't getting through to some people. I certainly will not forget all the idiots in my life who have downplayed this every step off the way... they're forever dumbasses.
