Not sure. I just drove dairy Ashford from westheimer to briar forest. Just north of briar forest a few blocks it looked like water might have been coming up storm drain and pooling in low spots. I hadn't been there earlier today to see if that was new.

The real press conf will be on at 7:30.

Really want to know if that is in addition or including the 6" it's already increased over the last few hours.

Is anyone near the Kimberley/Memorial intersection, just east of Eldridge? I am trying to find out if that is underwater. My friends live on the corner but one left with the kids to go north and her husband is a pilot who can't get home.

I live on that street. Had no water in street as of 4pm. We went to grandmas though due to power outage. Expecting the worst with these sudden rises. Hope I'm wrong.

Will try to check out conditions later this evening.

Based on the press conference, it sounds like they have already reached a total of 13.5cfs, so the effects are what we are seeing the rise in.

Any Intel from 10 and Kirkwood (south side of 10). BIL home is there that he evacuated on Sunday night as a precaution ahead of the reservoir releases.

Britoak Lane to be exact.

Sorry in advance, didn't read entire thread and haven't been following.

I'm north of i10 off Kirkwood and our house never took on water. In a power outage though, right now.

Can confirm that Eldridge has water over the road at Rincon Drive all the way to Westheimer. Looks to be coming out of the storm drains and slowly rising.

Does anyone know if you can get from Memorial in between Dairy Ashford and Kirkwood to i10?

Parents live there... do you think it will block roads or cause flooding in homes

It has been rising in county village since about 5, hasn't stopped yet. My pucker factor has increased X10. We can't get out on our own now. Still about 10 feet from front door

no clue at this point, but there was no water near one drain, we went for a 45 min walk, and then there was water at the drain... still seems to be quite a bit before it would have to get to most houses, maybe 18-24", but i'm not great at eyeballing geometry like that either...

I wonder if the flooding from the Bayou is traveling out through the storm drains and coming up at lower elevations south?
Dr. Horrible
How long do you want to ignore this user?
In theory, it should be doing some of that... bw8@ bayou is sitting at just under 70', so should have plenty of room to go downstream from me just cause, well gravity...

We are at a high spot at Eldridge and Briar Forest, really hoping it starts receding soon

Update from 8:00 p.m. press conference.

  • At this point both reservoirs are close to peaking, both at lower levels than previously predicted.
  • Buffalo Bayou between Hwy 6 and Dairy Ashford - water is not expected to rise much, if any, past current levels.
  • Buffalo Bayou Downstream from Dairy Ashford - expecting 0.5 - 1.0 ft. rise at the most tonight.
  • It sounds like most levels should start to recede over the next 2-3 days.

Thank God. We are just south of briar Forest and west of dairy Ashford and can see the water about 2-3' down in the storm sewers and rising

I still don't know how they measure a 2' rise.
What that means for us specifically

buffalo bayou at dairy ashford. Pretty obvious when they began to increase the discharge rate from the reservoirs.

West of dairy Ashford should see no change. East of dairy Ashford is experiencing a rise.

How high will it go....

No drainage in our neighborhood at this time.

Road in Village west was passable at 2PM, flooded at 8PM. It's one thing to be flooded in and staying put. It's another thing to be flooded in and want to leave.

I wish this kind of thing was more clear in the media. I have no issue making this assumption on my own but it would be nice to hear it from the officials sharing the information. It's difficult to be a bystander and want information while also trying to understand that those folks are doing th best they can to make good decisions and update us.

Based on that and Eldridge flooding at westheimer, there must be some discharge coming up through the drainage system to alleviate flow elsewhere

Sounds like he is either in Nottingham or Nottingham West. So far, no issues. Water from the Buffalo Bayou has risen to within about 15-20 feet from the crest of Memorial Drive at Kirkwood. Basically, Memorial is acting as a levy right now. As long as the bayou does not rise much more from rain/inflow from the resivours, he should be fine.

Drove through Thornwood earlier. La Costa has about 1 foot of water but nothing on any other streets for now.
