Firethorne is still ok, but the retention lake and drainage channels are full. I've had 1.5 feet of water in my street since last night. Photos to follow

same here. It hasn't receded but hasn't risen really all day. Where in Firethorne are you? I'm close to 1463, just south of South Firethorne off Stonestead then Firecrest

My house is off Morton rd between Ave. D and Katy Fort Bend. Neighbors say it got about 4" inside last night.

I'm currently at my moms house in Ventana Lakes which is on Clay just west of 99. Streets are flooded here but houses and most vehicles appear fine. Just waiting for water to go down so I can get to my house and start cleaning up.

Since this is the Katy update thread, I'll post the link to my Katy thread here

My Katy Update thread

As of 5:45 pm, in my subdivision, Shadow Point, water has gone down a bit today, even with incredibly heavy rains. It appears that has stopped. Doesn't seem like levels are rising, yet, but the reduction in level has stopped.

We've not had water in the house, yet. It looked like we were going to be OK, but with levels not lowering, I'm a bit more worried right now than I was this morning.

I won't be updating that thread any more. I'll stick to this thread.

We're just north of Katy high school. Older part of the neighborhood has some homes flooded, newer section in the back has impassable street flooding. Hasn't really receded much since 7am.

Looks like a lot of the business on 90 in old Katy are flooded.

My wife and I are supposed to close on a house in Firethorne Wednesday. I am sure it is going to be pushed back, as it is new construction. It is on Wood Lily, does anyone have any information?

I'm in Falcon Point, The Grove section. Bay Hill and Falcon Landing for reference.

Out streets flooded last night half way up driveways around 9pm but retreated to normal by 3am.

Today they've maintained a non-flooded status. Still positive signs about drainage. Hopefully for others too.

Wow I am really close, off Stonestead near Golden Larch. I don't think any houses in Firethorne have flooded et. Yesterday the water was 2/3 up the driveway, now 1/3 up. I am cautiously optimistic that yesterday was the peak.

Agreed. I'm hoping for the street flooding to recede tomorrow and I want to go out and see if I can help around the area...no boat but I'm open to whatever

Maybe it's my brain looking for optimism, but it appears that after 12 hours of heave rain, it's finally slowed down. As long as the ditch behind our house moves, we will be OK here at Shadow Point.

Thoughts on Katy area by McFee elementary? Have in-laws that live in the area. Doesn't appear to be by any bayou's but just want to be sure.

I share your optimism. I've been watching frank Billingsley's projections closely over the past 24 hours and it seems tonight through the early morning could bring a lot of relief from the heavy rain.

These constant heavy rains for days and days on end have me shocked that every house in Katy doesn't have water in it. Hats off to the drainage engineers.

We're in Seven Meadows, and the streets are completely clear. My fear is with the Barker Reservoir. The projected flooding map they sent out if it reaches 104 feet is just across grand parkway from us.

I know they have started releasing water, does anyone know if that release will prevent the Reservoir from reaching levels higher than 104 feet?
mm98

I believe (don't know for certain) their goal is to continue to release to prevent catastrophic dam failure which would occur at 107 I believe.

Right now it's at 98.98 as of the last hour update.

https://waterdatafortexas.org/reservoirs/individual/barker

It's just a matter of how much drain water continues to flow into Barkers. Hopefully if that slows we'll start to see a decrease in hourly total volume.

the harris county gage has it at 99.37. but it's held that level for over an hour now.

I'm in Seven Meadows, just west of S. Fry & 99. My neighborhood has fared well. No flooded streets except when the rain was at its hardest Sunday night.

Anyone been able to get out of Katy completely?

In-laws already evacuated their house that backed up to george bush park, but are now in an area that may be affected if barker reservoir comes up as high as they are forecasting.

They are currently at Fry in between Kingsland and Highland Knolls.

Can they go west down highland knolls to 99?

If they can get into 99 they'll be able to get on i10 going into town.

Appears so, but then to where? It looks like 99 is closed @ Clay road currently, and I-10 west is a no-go. Think they are trying to get to 290.

per drivetexas.org, 99 is clear between 10 and 290.

actually you may be right, click2houston's map shows GP is closed north of 10.

I10 east to 610 north to 290 west. Actually I think i10 east to bw8 north to 290 west would work too

mm, looking to do the same. Have a lower profile car, but waiting on a ride from a bigger SUV to try to get out of the area. I'm at Spring Green and Cinco Ranch, seems like the roads might be passable to get to where I can help. Let me know if you know of somewhere that needs help right now.
