I have a really good buddy that I haven't heard from in a few hours. He lives on Mason Creek just west of Fry / south of Kingsland. Any idea how that area is doing?

He should be fine. That is exactly where we are at and we are fine. Raining but no flooding so far.

Watching 13's coverage of the helicopter and water rescues is amazing. Heart rendering now where the reporter is helping rescue a building full of elderly handicapped trapped on the 2nd floor.
This is the best live TV I've ever watched .

My sister lives on Rhinebeck, just north of Dixie Farm Road (actually, she's closer to Astoria) just west of I45, and just south of Scarsdale. She left for Denton the storm hit. Anyone know what it's like down there? Does she have water in her house?

Not sure if or how many houses flooded but the news stations were reporting from right around there (the RV dealership) because of the high water. I think they took a pretty good lick there last night.

Just took a lap around Westheimer Lakes South. Lakes are getting full especially in Canyon Lakes.

If anyone in WL need to get out of their home we have a spare room on N Lakefair Ct in the Canyon Springs section.

To put this into perspective,

Memorial Day flood: 162 Billion gallons
Tax Day flood: 240 Billion gallons
Hurricane Harvey: 340-370 Billion gallons and counting.

Allison in '01 dropped 38.6" of water. This storm may exceed that, but also consider there are a million more people living in the region now than then. So the total $ will be much higher, in addition to inflation. I can't find the total in billions of gallons, but Harvey > Allison at this point.

As for releasing water, the Army Corps of Engineers mission statement with Barker and Addeeks, is to save Houston. When they were built no one really lived upstream/behind the reservoirs. Their job is to regulate the water flow to avoid flooding downtown or overflowing Buffalo Bayou AND release enough to not overstress and destroy the levee itself.

It's all numbers and yes, they may have to release enough water to relieve the stress of the dam to avoid catastrophic failure causing more damage.

Sounds like Green Trails may be flooded from reservoir release. If you live there I would prepare to leave tomorrow AM. Won't flood until tomorrow afternoon.

Streaming 13 from up here in Dallas... Their coverage is amazing. They should earn a few Emmys for this.

13 is killing it. That lady they rescued earlier went something like this:

"I was on 20/20 once"

"Really? What'd you do to get on 20/20?"

"Drunk driving." *smacks microphone

Evacuations in The Woodlands villages bordering spring creek.

http://www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/CivicSend/ViewMessage/Message?id=42928

CRITICAL INFORMATION REGARDING RISING WATER IN THE WOODLANDS

From The Woodlands Fire Department

Update as of 1700 (5 pm) CST, Sunday, August 27, 2017

Additional information regarding Montgomery County OEM's latest message. Spring Creek levels are currently projected to crest 4 feet higher than the 2016 Memorial Day Floods. If you were affected by flood waters during the 2016 floods and reside near Spring Creek, you are urged to leave if you can safely do so. Residents who live in Grogan's Point, Timarron (including residences south of Spring Creek and west of Kuykendahl), Tallowberry, Carlton Woods Creekside, residences near Spring Creek on the south side of Flintridge, and Gatewood Reserve may experience flooding conditions.
Additional neighborhoods or streets include, but not limited to, are:

Aventura
Bracebridge
Carlton Woods Creekside
Cascade Canyon
Creek Ridge
Gatewood Reserve
Grogan's Point
Havergate
Heritage Hill
Heron's Flight
Horizon Ridge
Hunters Crossing
Landsdowne
Legacy Point
Lenox Hill
Pondera Point
Shawnee Ridge
River Bank
Stellar Point
Tallowberry
Tealbriar
Trace Creek
Timarron
Timarron Lakes

Residents of Grogan's Point, evacuation points have been established at Sawdust Road Baptist Church at 3100 Sawdust Rd. From there, residents will be transported across Sawdust Road where buses will be waiting to transfer to local shelter. Residents wishing to be picked by any other means can depart from this location.
The Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management has established a shelter at the following location:

St. Simon and Jude
26777 Glen Loch Road
The Woodlands, TX 77381
Did you see the update that not all of those areas are evacuating? The Township and the Creekside Village Association sent out clarification that the notice was intended for areas that flooded in 2016, like Timber Lakes/Timber Ridge. Those streets listed above are not flooded now but are at a higher risk for flooding if the creek reaches 112 feet (four feet higher than the 108 at Memorial Day). Some of the houses in Timarron/Timarron Lakes that back up to the nature preserve had water up to their back patios during the Memorial Day floods.
