Despite the arrogant boasting from clay that would ensue, I sincerely hope we get out of the Harvey event with minimal rainfall and flooding. So far only 3-7 inches around Houston while other areas have been pounded.
But I think clay's gripe should be with models, not the news.

Info predicts beyond the bands of rain which are impossible to predict winds starting around midnight should stay below 25 mph until Tuesday. Everything else the same. Imagine if the bands of rain that have been over the golden triangle had trained over us. Luckily that hasn't happened yet. Hoping it stays that way.

Supposedly all of our flooding rains will come overnight. I understand warm core floods with these storms but you have to be near the core for that to happen. I guess we are supposed to get a lot of rain bands?
Yup that must be the one ktrk just reported as confirmed at barker cypress and west. That looks like a significant tornado to my untrained eye as well

Only 1.20" in Sugar Land (New Territory) since 6am this morning, had 6" between 12-5am.
Definitely a good break for draining leveed neighborhoods and small creeks. I just don't see the brazos jumping 40' in less than 2 days. We'll see I guess.

Models are models, rarely correct other than a general area of landfall. The news outlets grab hold of every opportunity to create viewers by presenting possibilities as virtual realities. It creates hysteria where little is needed. People wanting everything that happens to be OMG record setting just exacerbate the issue with getting a rational idea of what might happen during a storm like this.
