For all of you that gripe about our team's hitting and want to fire Mark Johnson for it, you've just witnessed my #1 gripe against Coach Johnson. We all to often seem to leave a pitcher in one batter too long. Other times when we do make a switch, the guy brought in seems to be so ridiculously unprepared to enter the game.

I'm still a big MJ supporter, but in my opinion the biggest knock against him are his decisions when to take out/leave in a pitcher.

That's a 10-4 Luke. IMO, his lack of decision has taken us out of a lot of games.

1876....What you say is true...but...but...but, Cline had been in trouble twice before and was bailed out by two DPs. My question is....why wasn't MJ keeping that in mind. Granted, mental toughness is essential in pitchers, but it wasn' Cline's night from the get go.

I agree, he clearly wasn't pitching well.

3 walks and 2 HBP, he's obviously having control problems. Seems like MJ would,have shortened the lease in that case.

Ok this is a team that hasn't played in a week, and they have 6 hits compared to our 2 hits. What gives....

1876 - my point exactly.

1. This is a fairly untested Tuesday night pitcher. Yes, he SHOULD be able to get out of that sort of a jam, but that doesn't mean he CAN get out of it.

2. We didn't use a bunch of pitchers this weekend. Why push someone on a cool Tuesday night vs. a very beatable opponent?

3. To cap it off we've had 3 guys thrown out on the base paths in 4 innings. What about that would put any confidence in a pitcher's head?

Look...I don't expect the team to go 56-0, but I do expect the team (and head coach) to not repeat mistakes over and over and over again. Lack of power or clutch hitting is not repeating a mistake. That is often caused by a strong pitching opponent. Pitching change decision making isn't caused by anyone except the decision maker.

I agree with Luke and others. That was my same gripe as lst year. Leave a bad pitcher in too long and not having the bull pen warming up. I would just like to see somebody worming up regardless of the pitcher being taken out.
