Maybe they should've just played that game in CA and then sent the winner to NC.

I like the way Southland does their tourney. 1 bid leagues should go to this.

Top 8 teams split into 4 team double elimination brackets with Top 2 teams hosting. Set up like a Regional

Winners play a 3 game Series the next weekend hosted by higher seed. Set up like a Super

Lamar is hosting McNeese this weekend for a trip to Regionals

I watched KState's game in the Big 12 tournament last night. It started at 10:20pm CDT and ended at 1:38AM. Why the Big 12 moved the tournament out of CDT is puzzling.

Availability of a nice facility and guaranteed perfect weather. Plus, 4 of the 14 Big 12 baseball teams (AZ, ASU, BYU, and Utah) are in the western time zones.

I agree but four teams are now in the Mountain Time zone. What makes it even worse is that Arizona does not do DST so they are effectively PDT. It really going to suck for the fans of teams on Eastern Time (UCF, West Virginia and Cincinnati).

Sam Houston just upset La Tech in a crazy game 14-13 and will move on to play Liberty tomorrow morning.

The current 3-tier bye system could easily be replaced by a pod system if they wanted the highest seeds to face competition and use five starters. Five? Three for group play with four groups plus pod champs playing into single elimination four-team semifinal then final.

I think you can guess why that won't work but the current format only induces a potential five starter schedule on the lowest eight seeds nearly guaranteeing they won't win plus fits in Hoover's stadium in the current schedule.

my guess is money wise that makes sense since I bet a centralized conference tourney for these guys would cost them a ton of money with travel and hosting cost.

Arizona and Arizona State are in a different time zone than BYU and Utah this time of year. The teams on CDT are 2 hours later and EDT teams are 3 hours later. Tonight's TCU K State game starts at 10pm CDT time if it starts on time.

They got lucky with the weather this year. It's 91 today and not supposed to hit 100 until Sunday. It's not unusual to be 105+ this time of year.

I live in Arizona and this seems stupid to me. We're not in the same time zone as Utah this time of year. Plus it's at Surprise Stadium which has little around it for fans to do. There looked like 50 people there last night. The WCC had the good sense to schedule Scottsdale Stadium. Why didn't the Big 12 schedule Salt River Fields? Both those are proximate to Old Town and great bars, restaurants, etc.

I think the ACC tournament is one I want to attend in person. Great baseball, beautiful AAA ballpark, and no one else there. I can't imagine club seating is pricey at an empty ballpark.

A team from Kansas and a team from Texas are slated tp start playing at 10pm central time and your girl is offended by it.

Baylor game is still in the top of the 5th so who knows when your Frogs get started but I'm guessing not 10pm.

I live here and think it's crazy. UTA and ACU are playing right now in their tournament which is also being played here.

TCU game ended at 1;35 AM CDT. Even the announcers said it was inexplicable. Might have been 100 people there. Surpise is to Phoenix as Hempstead is to Houston.

The Cal Stanford game is a good example of why this current conference setup that fits football and to a certain extent basketball is not sustainable long term for baseball. I still believe that in ten years non revenue sports will play in regional conferences. Teams will get on an airplane only once or twice a year if that before regionals.

How much does it cost for Cal to play at Michigan vs at UCLA?

They had guaranteed perfect weather in Arlington. In the desert, they're going to be pushing 100 degree days every day.

Maybe the Big 12 cannot afford the cost of using the Rangers stadium. Outside of player parents and families, there can't be more than a few hundred diehard Big 12 baseball fans. And when your league stretches across 4 time zones, you're going to have fan bases who are inconvenienced.

It's been crazy cool here for May and 100 doesn't feel hot really. But this makes no sense. Cincinnati plays at 11PM their time tonight.

A few hundred is silly. Cmon. Try not to be intentionally obtuse.

However, Globe Life is cost prohibitive. My understanding is that it is going back to Bricktown, which is awesome.

That's good. Bricktown was the best.

Globe life is also not a good fan environment for a college game. Even with a 10k crowd they feel empty and dead. The top end/newer minor league stadiums are perfect for it. Bricktown was always a good vibe.

First few years, the Big 12 tournament was crazy. The first year at All-Sports Stadium, I was taunted by an Okie State fan while relieving myself in the men's room. "Welcome to the Cowboy Invitational!" They'd won the Big 8 tournament a large number of years in a row. Tanya and I saw three or four arrests for drunken/disorderly conduct both nights we were there.

The first couple of years at Bricktown were the same way. Arrests every night. One night in '98 I saw a t.u. fan arrested, and they hadn't even qualified for the tourney. Way to represent!

Years went on. OSU (and OU) never won the tourney, and the locals stopped attending.

EDIT - The scene at All-Sports Stadium in '97. A literal hole in the ground... what a sh**hole.

I was at Bricktown a lot in those same late 90s-early 00s. Plenty of good stories which probably ought not to be told.

OK, maybe more than a few hundred. But it's not like the Big 12 tournament can command the kind of facility, TV audience, and ticket sales that the SEC, ACC, and probably even the Big 10 can.

The last current Big 12 team to win a national title was Arizona in 2012. Before that it was Arizona in 1986 and before that it was Arizona State in 1981. It's just not a league set up for college baseball success. Basketball...you bet. Football...kind of. But baseball...not so much.

I truly wish the Big 12 did a better job in the baseball realm. Nationally, college baseball as a whole would be better if there were more good teams from more leagues. Schools like UCF, UH, Arizona, Texas Tech, and Baylor need to be better if the conference is going to shine as a top tier league.

The last CWS appearance for each current Big 12 team.

2025 - Arizona
2023 - TCU
2019 - Texas Tech
2016 - Oklahoma State
2010 - Arizona State
2005 - Baylor
1993 - Kansas
1971 - BYU
1970 - Iowa State...and they don't even play baseball anymore
1967 - Houston
1951 - Utah

Never - Central Florida, Cincinnati, Colorado, Kansas State, West Virginia

Baylol going to extras.

Question: Do teams get an extra ABS challenge in extra innings?

Colorado has not had a baseball program since the 1980 season.
