The UTSA & UT-San Marcos coaches threw down after the Roadrunner beatdown last night over a HBP in the game. Possibly worth a search (if you're really bored).

I was under the impression that these "replacement" games were not originally scheduled but added afterwards.

I do not recall a late series against BYU being cancelled in 1990. I do recall a similar series against Pepperdine being cancelled in 1994.

About to say the same thing, remember 1994. Had not heard about 1990.

Because Rice had a game against Texas rained out they did play one less game then A&M and that locked up 4th place in the SWC for them Rice 11-9 record vs. Texas A&M 11-10. Since we had swept Rice, if the Rice and Texas would have played, Texas would have likely won and sent us to the SWC tournament. But only 4 teams went back then and we went home.

Looking back at the 1990 schedule, we played 60 regular season games, not sure what the limit was in 1990, I know in 1993 the limit for regular season was 56, but I believe the number of games allowed was higher in 1990.

Yep...I'd forgotten about the Pepperdine series in '94.

I can't remember which year the NCAA put a 56-game limit on a regular season. Back in the '80s, Texas and Wichita State were notorious for playing +/- 65 regular season games. I'm sure others were doing it as well, but those are the two I remember the most.

It's pretty amazing how much college baseball was like the lawless wild, wild West up until the late '80s or so.

Ditto, did not see your post before mine. Wichita State was the worst abuser.

I'm at Little League. Again.

That's fun baseball!

Well at least if the parents do not take things too seriously.

Oh, I get what you are saying. Ask me one day about the single season of little league my son played. Day 1 set the tone. We were a one and done family.
