I'm not saying we should, or shouldn't, discontinue it... but if I were the next player it was offered to I'd say, "actually coach, my lucky number is ___, so thanks but no thanks."

And as long as that blank isn't filled in with #12 I'd be a-okay.

Baseball is the most superstitious sport and the most mental. If a player starts believing the jersey is bad luck, it could get into their head and become sort of a self fulfilling thing. Almost like the yips.
