17 K's is embarrassing… great W though.. one day at a time… but that offensive approach can't stay

Its the trend. Every game getting a little worse. Saw it last year. Are they pressing? Is it approach? 17 is really bad. Hope Earley can figure it out.

Also today was the first day he made some significant changes to the lineup.

our pitching has been lights out… i think 5 walks in 6 games now? crazy good stat

hitting (even announcers)… all we talk about now is exit velo… i get it, hard hit balls find holes more frequently.. but if you aren't hitting the ball, velo doesn't matter… step 1

It's 6 games into a baseball season. The pitchers are going to have the advantage with limited scouting and these types of games are going happen. No point in jumping off the cliff too early.

They were. Just about how many runs our pitching gave up. Now it's the opposite.

Still scored 23 in a game last weekend, maybe Penn got some crazy recruits or transfers, lets just be happy to stay undefeated and win the series unlike in 2022.

20-25 mph wind blowing in we win w/o two best hitters in the lineup. I'll take it too many backwards k's but Penn pitching is decent. We scout transfers from their foster.

in 2022 we lost the series to Penn and still made it to Omaha, definitely a concerning game but were still 6-0

Yep. And teams like Tennessee lost to Kent State today.

And Arkansas needed extras to beat Xavier. It's baseball.

Penn is so awful that we've actively recruited transfers from them the last several years.

A win is a win is a win. Last weekend we were worried about the the arms and overjoyed with the bats (C-). Uno reverse so far this this weekend, can't complain about the work on the mound but damn the ABs were ugly as ugly could be. It would be nice if the board would allow a few more weeks of play before we weep, wail, gnash our teeth and rend our Aggie jerseys but TexAgs being TexAgs I know this ain't going to happen.

I would have liked more than 3 combined runs in our last 20 innings, but I am grateful for our pitching and bullpen that allowed just 1 run in these two walk-off wins.

multiple things can be true, at this point I would just take the win and move on, we have plenty of season to see what is and isn't true.

we learned last year that losing the "cheap non-conference" games is one of the worst things you can do to your tournament bid glad we didn't drop one of those today

This was not a reassuring win. Our program feels a bit lost

If last season hadn't been such a disaster it's a lot easier to gloss over these early struggles


I'm still optimistic we can get back to hitting the way we did when schlob was here, but so far we look just like we did last year. Poor vision & poor plate discipline

Even so I'm not "embarrassed" at all, as OP put it, other than for OP.

Yup, let's see how the season goes. But before I give a coach the benefit of the doubt, he has to earn it. And getting embarrassed by a historically bad Mizzou team isn't a way to earn it.

Arguably, getting swept (and embarrassed at that) by a historically atrocious Mizzou team that went 0-27 in conference play outside of that series hurt us even more. IIRC, Cal Poly ended up having a decent year. As did UTSA. Those losses to NMSU and Texas State were bad, too.

Yes, the bats got cold. But don't we have a north wind this weekend? Compared to the south winds last week. It's early in the year. I am not too worried. Let's get the win tomorrow.

I'm usually the "That's baseball" guy, but this wasn't a good sign. It's not like we were just unlucky and hitting it 100 mph into a glove. Lots of terrible, uncompetitive ABs against a team we should on paper be vastly more talented than.

These last two games have looked an awful lot like last year. Guys chasing balls and watching strikes. Lots of weak contact and even more whiffing entirely. We just look completely out of rhythm at the plate. It's great to win these instead of losing them but the approach and attitude at the dish looks all too familiar
