Hopefully Vitello doesn't do well in MLB and we can entice him back to college like a Nick Saban situation

There, I saved it for the OP.

Yes, the bats got cold. But don't we have a north wind this weekend? Compared to the south winds last week. It's early in the year. I am not too worried. Let's get the win tomorrow.

I am so sick of hearing about the north wind like it means the batters can't hit the damn ball at all. It's excuse after excuse after excuse with these guys. It's either the wind or its exit velocities and bad luck or it's the umpires fault

living in Colorado, I follow the Rockies. The last three years they have lost over 100 games each season and almost broke the White Sox worst season record in history last year. BUT, they still beat the Dodgers twice last year winning a three game series. Great teams lose to bad teams and bad teams beat great teams.

If we need to replace Earley, we'll need to do so long before anyone knows if Vitello is a bust or not with the Giants.

We recruit and tailor mostly to guys who launch the ball. It's the in thing these days. At the college level I'd much rather have a lineup of guys who know how to properly hit a baseball but I also know I'm old fashioned and that is currently not the trend. And not even among college. It's harder to find those guys because the coaching of this current era of ****ty hitting starts early.

So continue to hear moral victory "exit velo" comments after guys mash a ball straight up in the air into a north wind for an easy fly out and whiff 40% of the time.

Why would anyone whine about the hitting last weekend? That makes no sense.

There are a lot of other college teams that don't seem to have this problem. Just look around the top of the SEC

This game definitely felt like some of the games we saw last year with the high K, low BB rates. Still, there were some things that stood out to me that I liked seeing at the plate. Really liked Grahovak's approach today. I know the boxscore tells a different story but he really looked like he was trying to stay back and drive the ball the other way most of the day which is a good approach on a day like today. Too many other players were trying to pull the ball even on pitches on the outer half. Some look like they're trying to do too much instead of trusting their God-given talents.

Farr definitely made the most of his opportunities this weekend and I hope he's rewarded with more opportunities in the near future. His plate discipline and ability to see the offspeed pitch 4-5 times in one AB before ripping one down the line to tie the game was the approach I wish more players had against that particular pitcher and his inability to command his fastball.
Bear is going to strikeout on a lot of pitches under his hands against pitchers that can execute that pitch, but he's also going to make them pay if they miss over the middle or inside (5 HBP already). I think that's a tradeoff you happily accept, especially from your catcher.

Ultimately going to have do better at getting on base, but glad they found a way to get it done today, bring the brooms tomorrow!

Its the trend. Every game getting a little worse. Saw it last year. Are they pressing? Is it approach? 17 is really bad. Hope Earley can figure it out.

Also today was the first day he made some significant changes to the lineup.

He needs to make a significant change at the top of the order....

Why?

To score more runs.....duh.

Still scored 23 in a game last weekend, maybe Penn got some crazy recruits or transfers, lets just be happy to stay undefeated and win the series unlike in 2022.

1-2 pitchers dominating us, maybe. Every single pitcher that they have sent out there, like seven up to this point? Has been able to strike us out consistently. That speaks to your lineup, not their pitching.

Again your math ain't mathing. The MLB season lasts until late September. Even if we keep Earely for two more seasons and then fire him we'll have to make a move on a replacement well before the MLB season ends unless you think Tony V will leave a third of the way through his second season with the Giants.

#17 North Carolina St.. lost to Princeton today 1-0. Maybe, just maybe we should tap the breaks until we get a tad deeper into this season and see where the team stands before we start this discussion.

I don't really care, I just think he'll end up back in college where he is a better fit. Personally unless we are the ones that get him to come back I hope he has a long successful MLB career.

Lol north winds don't strike you out 17 times against marginal D1 pitching. I'll take the win but there's no denying our offense looks eerily similar to last season.

Earley postgame:

"it's a complete lack of commitment to an approach"

"we completely spun out of control"

"we want wins but we aren't going to be satisfied with all wins" - loved that one

He went on to say it is completely unacceptable and something they are going to fix. We shall see. Could tell he was really annoyed with guys forgetting everything they worked on though.
