Player of The Game: Aiden Sims
By far the best appearance on the mound this weekend. Limiting the damage to only one run and one hit alongside seven strikeouts was a phenomenal performance from this sophomore. If he continues to perform like this, I will have little doubt when it comes to us winning a rubber match.
Offensive Player of the Game: Wesley Jordan
This one was going to be between Jordan and Sorrell, but since I'm already going to give player of the week to Sorrell tomorrow, I'm giving the nod to Jordan for today. Producing two RBI's and the only hit double on the day. (Technically Sorrell only got a single in the 4th, advancing to second on the throw) Jordan was outstanding in the box today, as he was all weekend. He came to the plate every time looking to produce and doing so more times than not. Producing 7 hits, 5 walks, and one HBP on the weekend makes me look forward to what this Senior Transfer has to offer us for this year.
Overall Impressions:
Pitching was the best it had been all weekend. Sims shut down their offense in his six innings of work, and Freshcorn came in to clean up the remaining innings, only allowing two baserunners on back-to-back singles. The Offense showed they can still perform in groggy weather producing 12 hits and 4 walks/HBP while only striking out 5. I believe today was a very well-rounded game considering the conditions and am hopeful that we take the blueprint of this weekend and improve on it as the season progresses. I'll be back with y'all tomorrow for my Series Summary and can't wait to BTHO A&M Corpus Christi.
