Talented teams regardless of coaching win. Why i think there must be a locker room issue. Schloss always had the mentality of, if you dont perform you'll be replaced. That's no longer the case. I'm guessing the next debacle will be us getting destroyed in the portal.

while i am interested in hearing if there is anything behind the scenes i will say that i disagree with you. even at the MLB level the most talented team on paper doesn't win every year. baseball is a very unique sport.

i think what this season and culminated with this weekend is that leadership and accountability are imperative to success. we didn't have enough of that or we would have been better. cause clearly we do have some talent.

it may be simply too much NIL money for 18 to 22-year olds

a player getting $10k to $20k -- okay, doesn't change anyone or anything

but players getting $50k to $100k to $200k to $500k creates problems -- individually and collectively

This one's kind of like blaming the north wind. Both teams deal with it.

Except maybe Mizzou. Maybe that's why Mizzou beat our asses. To take our lunch money.

Overhyped players, what we miss more than the ****head****ernagle is Jackson Appel and Max Weiner.
If you have those two we have about 10 more wins. We were overhyped other big loss was SS Ali was really good defensively.
We have been awful defensively, errors cost us the Texas series and other games.
Injuries as well have been bad, but everyone has them
Braden Montgomery was the leader our current players only wish they were.

I sure don't see them playing "loose" this coming weekend versus Georgia after what we just saw against Missouri.

If anything, I foresee them playing even more wound-up.

They were 0-24 in the SEC prior to playing us. Thus, the other teams paying players like we are; it did not hinder those teams.

Don't overthink it. Earley is not SEC head coaching material, It's that simple.
Unfortunately I think this is the answer. He may be a great guy, and seemed like a good hitting coach before this year - but it doesn't appear he's ready to lead an SEC program. Just one example off the top of my head, but I remember watching a game a few weeks ago (I think it was the t.u. series) where Schott was on second base in the 8th inning as the tying or lead run. I'm staring at his giant knee brace asking myself why don't we have pinch runner in for him. Several pitches into the at bat our coaching staff comes to the same realization and eventually sends out a pinch runner. It ended up not making a difference in that scenario - but a season full of those kind of mistakes do add up. I've also seen multiple mental errors or lack of hustle with no apparent accountability. Meanwhile, I saw the a-hole in Austin pull two starters out at the same time and bench them for a baserunning error last week.

Obviously a train wreck this year, but I will be waiting to hear what actually caused all this. It will normally come out 6 months or so after the season when players have left the program. Something had to of occurred. Talent like this WITH experience, just doesn't sheat the bed like we did.
You're waitIng to troll? Hmm…

Probably just caring too much and pressing whenever stakes are high.
the confusing thing though...

against Tennessee, Carolina, and Arkansas...they didn't care and didn't press

against Alabama, Vandy, Kentucky, t.u., and Mizzou...I don't know
This team plays to the level of its competition.
People think I'm an idiot or something, because all I do is cut lawns for a living.

It's the 'nothing to prove' mentality.

Kids have established their peak and have proven to themselves they are good ball players.... When challenged by what the perceive as worthy or equivalent talent, they play with purpose. When competing against what is perceived as inferior talent, they have not purpose since they believe already that they are superior (regardless of the contest).

Why are most effective ball coaches hard-asses? Because every year even the best player needs to prove he belongs and needs to be challenged (Kevin O'Sullivan & Schloss)

it's not being conditioned to treat every game as important. The last at-bat against UTSA should carry just as much motivation as the last at-bat against tu. That level of focus leads to consistent play and alleviates pressure when it gets real as motivation is always upstream of performance.

It's shows they are a mentally weak team. Horrible sign for a baseball coach.

Yogi Berra famously stated, "Baseball is 90 percent mental. The other half is physical,"

Why wait. Hiring a first-time head coach to run a major program was a coin flip at best.
