Realizing there's going to be some swing and miss on at least one option, my target list would be

1) Tony V
2) Vaughn
3) Skip Johnson
4) Mark Wasikowski
5) Dan Fitzgerald

You might be right on Vaughn, but I look at it differently. Leaving after 2 seasons is a lot less scummy then leaving after 1, he would get a more normal window to assemble a roster for year 1, & we would presumably offer him quite a bit of money for both himself and his staff.

What's the argument for Fitzgerald? Pretend you're his agent selling him to Alberts.

Tadlock also apparently makes 1.8 mil so you're gonna have to pay over 2 mil a year for a guy that might not use NIL. Just seems like a bad deal.

2.5 mil and you can probably have him. He makes 1.8 mil right now

Agree already chatter from my Tech buddies that he may get fired at Tech if they have another terrible year.

I think he's not leaving Florida, but if he is willing to listen you have to talk to him too.

Tech doesn't have A&M's resources. Have to believe we have way more NIL $'s and if he had those resources, would be a steal IMO.

I wanted him when we hired POS. I'm not sure how I feel about him now.

So given this information, the group consensus is that we will buy out earley for 3MM, & then go hire a major name for 2+MM/year

Clearly selling a baseball coach to Alberts isn't that difficult of a bar…

Heefner is a name many are throwing around quite a bit. Fitzgerald served as recruiting coordinator for 8 years and AHC under him for 4. He has a good eye for under the radar talent, Texas ties, and at least has one season under his belt in the SEC.

He's in a baseball wasteland, in Kansas, that most recently made a regional 11 years ago; yet his program at has shown improvement every year, and is now tied for first in the Big 12. He's a wait and see how the year plays out type candidate, but if he makes a super, I would assume he leaves KU.

The timing is what got Earley the job. You weren't getting a big name so late in the cycle so you could hire the guy who retains the roster and hope he's good or hire someone that was a ways down your list and would apmost certainly have a terrible roster going into year 1. If we care about baseball we will pay quite a bit for a new coach. Remember we got 2.7 mil from tu for Schloss so Earley really didn't cost that much.

Tech shouldn't need A&M level resources to compete in the Big 12. That's the concern. That he is the one underutilizing NIL not that there is a lack of available NIL at Tech.

We didn't play a game 3. Our only post season losses were to Tennessee in the finals.

I respect the heck out of Heefner for being the man he is and putting his faith first. Hoping he stays on the unrealistic list and doesn't let money influence him.

Game 2 but yes. Should have pulled him long before we got 4 runs in the 7th. Totally screwed the next pitcher coming in with bases loaded too.

He's on a similar trajectory to Vaughn, just a few years behind, and he had the benefit of a strong mentor. There's a reason he's not first on the list, but he's certainly interesting.

Why Pollard over Skip Johnson? Pollard hasn't been to Omaha. They have similar win percentages, and Pollard is an east coast guy.

I just like Pollard. Gotten enough pushback to move him down. Johnson is inconsistent but OU is a ****ty job. Might need to move him too.

Their bullpen was REALLY WEAK. They really relied on their starting pitching all season. You can certainly argue he should have taken out that pitcher anyways (I would have if I was the coach), but we won that series by working counts and chasing off their staring pitchers. Their bullpen wasn't going to hold. Knocking out their starting pitchers early in both games is what beat them.

Most college teams don't have a deep bullpen, which is why Schloss' method works. It's insane to me that Earley got an up close and personal tutorial on how to run an effective offense, yet he changed the approach. Sorry, rant over.

Skip's inconsistency is odd. Wouldn't be my first choice, but his ceiling is winning a natty.
