Nick just said the F word

Your home plate blue buddy must love Mingione. Played him like a two dollar *****
The whole game
I was STUNNED he didn't warn him early on. I've never seen him tolerate bull*****
He should have tossed Mingione and Hage.

Umps basically bowed down to Mingione the last 2 games. And anyone who does not think it changes things can kiss my ass.

Kentucky came up in the first inning and would wipe out the chalk marks of the batter box by sweeping their cleats. And then sit on top of the plate with their arms and hands in the strike zone. So you could throw a strike and hit them. And neither ump the last two days did anything.

Total joke. League has to do something. They have been hbp 55 times in the last 17 games.

Not surprised with Ryan Broussard. Surprised today. Mingione played blue like a violin.

He's a POS, but also our play is worse. Hard to put the loss blame on Kentucky when we are playing like a 13 u travel team
Agree to an extent. When home plate blue lets the opposing team stand inside the batter's box and not give you the outside corner that strike window gets real small. Where they stood they could not move and get hit by a strike. Completely changed the weekend when Nroussard let them get away with it yesterday. It is almost impossible to pitch.

Blue has to do something there.

And it is one thing not to have the balls to do something (because they absolutely know what is going on) but then for home plate blue today to put up with Mingione's crap is piss poor.

I can agree with you, but what if we decided to do it too? Wouldn't it have been smart? I just have a hard time blaming the series loss on anything else but ourselves
I agree. But it is bs baseball. I hate it. Love winning but this is so chicken sheet.

Oh yeah I think it's awful way to play. Hard to be proud about a win doing it.
But I do not blame them for trying that. Blue needs to have balls and tell them to stop it. Everybody is so scared of making people mad.

And they are sad thing is, I have umoed. They know exactly what Mingione is doing. They are not stupid. Just scared.

Our coach needs to recognize and say something about it then. Don't put it on the umps. The battle is between the 2 teams. Earley got dragged over by a much better coach who was much more prepared this weekend. And I can't stand Mingione either.
Totally disagree. Umps play a huge role and the last two days the umps let Kentucky control, the game.

Who determines balls and strikes? It is not the coaches or players. And that is the biggest determining thing in baseball.

And they know that.

It's up to the coaches to do something about it and address the umpires as well as have their teams adjust to the calls on any given day.

According to you and how much you whine about officiating across all sports, Alex Jones level conspiracies must exist in the zeitgeist to keep A&M sports down. Yet for some reason other teams seem to adjust to the officiating.

Guess we're just that unlucky.
Nailed me.

Okay, so…. Is the team this bad? Is the coach this bad? Or both?

My take … which means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Bad coaching. Players regressed over the offseason. Jace, Schott, Prager and Kent (your core 4) aren't playing as well as they did in 2024. Gavin and Caden got hurt. The new transfers have been okay… Hensler has been great and Kash has disappointed. The freshmen are playing like freshmen (high upside but thrown into starting roles too early)

I also think the #1 ranking messed with their heads… they came in thinking "well it's baseball it'll all work out over time" and it didn't. So now they're pressing due to the hole that was dug the first few weeks.

So the roster got worse and the coaching got much worse overall.

Is Sorrell using the Schott approach of getting it to the outfield so he can walk to 1st base? His HR yesterday had EV over 50 and he hit it high most at bats today.

Maybe Earley in the 8th is the motivation the team needs.

Yeah Sorrell being gingerly is #238 on my list of grievances. Welcome back Caden.

I agree with this. I said before the first game of the season that I thought being the first unanimous #1, in a sport where the polls notoriously often disagree, was a bad thing and not super fair to Earley. Yes we had talent returning but the roster and especially starting lineup had significant turnover even before the injuries.

In no way does it excuse a sub .500 team overall and only 1 SEC win in 3 series, but the sky high expectations were unfounded for a first time head coach.

someone explain this:

Kash and Bergevin combined for 33 HR's last year

so far in 2025...they have combined for 2 HR for the maroon-n-white

what happened?

100%!

On tv, it was so easy to see where they were lining up. And the announcers kept saying stuff about how UK players were willing to stand in there and take the hit. Even went as far as to explain how you can make it look like you are moving back out of the way of the pitch and stick your arm out to take a hit on purpose.

It will take another fight between Kentucky and Tennessee, I bet, before anyone looks into it from the SEC.

Blues have no balls. Which makes guys like Mingione thrive.

Frustrated as most here. Yes the umpires suck, but coach/team need to adapt. One team did this weekend.

How did they adapt? They pulled the same bull**** they always do.

and won / got away with it.

Clearly crowding the plate and we continued to throw inside. Not for injuries, but an intentional hit was called for. We could have crowded the plat just as much.

Pitchers needed to pitch to the umpires strike zone...clearly Kentucky found it and move the ball around for all of our strike outs.

Batters learn the strike zone and stop complaining - hit the damn ball or get hit by it.

This weekend was the most bush league I have seen in a long time.
trouble
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I didn't think today's zone was that bad. He just allowed their crowding and stalling bull**** to continue.

Yesterday, Broussard's was stupid and not the same in both halves of an inning. I'm not sure how you adjust when he refuses to give the outside and you can't go inside without hitting someone.

They didn't adjust to **** because they didn't have to. And yes, I think we should have absolutely crowded the plate and forced the issue.

Regardless of any tactics by Kentucky, or anything involving opposing coaches and umpires.... Our issues extend back way further than this weekend. Team has underperformed all year. Very disappointing. It is what it is.

Earley had to be hired to keep an historically talented team together especially position player wise, a team that was one win away from a national championship last year. Nobody could have known it would've gone this poorly. Injuries to two star hitters in Grahovac and Sorrell only exacerbated things. Definitely needed those two all season to help cover any struggles the new coaching staff appears to have had.

I just hope the team can stick together and continue to give it their all. Can't ever give up.
tamc93
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Unfortunately the team had to play Kentucky and the umpires this weekend. The latter has been an issue at various times this season and I think it is in their head.

As for the stalling towards the end of the game - not a popular opinion, but it was in the context of the rules. We should not have to worry about winning the clock battle - just winning the game.

the next remotely questionable call in a remotely close game, earley needs to fire up and get him self tossed and put some life behind his eyes. he has a slow pulse and he needs to raise the pressure

Ump should have tossed their coach when he argued for a minute on an obvious call. Umps knew there was a curfew and let them delay. That's. It exactly context of the rules. It's abusing the rules after you already unilaterally set a curfew without involving A&M and requesting the game be moved to 11 or 12.

If he had some rise or run to that fastball, it would play. That straight fastball gets crushed by D1 college hitters

Whatever 'stuff' he had in juco has vacated him. He has zero command of his off speed stuff to be able to set anything up. Just leave it fat over the middle of the plate.

Yes

You have seen two 180 degree turns with respect to the mental side of the game in a 4 year period. I will say more on this later, but as a fan for 38 years, I know what we're looking at. The coach did zero preparation on the mental side of the game during the off-season, and we are seeing the results. After watching the Supers in 2015-16, and our Supers against Rice, and many of Augie's teams, I learned what the mental side of the game really means. The Ags had it too for 3 seasons, but it is gone now.
94chem,
That, sir, was the greatest post in the history of TexAgs. I salute you. -- Dough

I'd love to see some rise on a fastball, it'd be the first I've ever seen. It would also rock the physics world. Other than that, movement on a fastball is essential.

Uneducated incoming......

And yes, I understand that's still what some people call that movement.
