We aren't haters. It's clear she was struggling lol More questionable coaching than anything else.

I hope she does close it out.

At least we are at top of the lineup. KP pop out. Amari smokes it up the middle. One on, one out. Their new pitcher is Alea, she gave up the big HR to Mac on Friday. Mya singles to LF. Runners at 1st and 2nd with Mac up. C'mon, Mac, another big hit! Balls being called as strikes, darn it. RBI single by Mac, score tied at 7-7. Runners at 1st and 2nd, one out. Koko up. KK to PR for Mya at 2B. We need runs here because bottom of the lineup has not been producing. Koko walks, bases loaded. Allie up. 0 of 3 in the game. We really, really need Allie to get her magic back. A super time for a huge clutch hit. Briski back in the game for Bama. 5th pitching change for Bama. Bounced in on a 3-1 pitch, walk, RBI. Aggies up 8-7. Bases loaded, one out, Ojo at the plate. Pitcher can't located the down ball. Ojo walks, RBI, Aggies up 9-7. Another pitching change. 6th one. Bases loaded, one out. Frankie at the plate. Frankie reached on a fielder's choice to 3rd. Koko out at home. Bases still loaded, two outs, freshman Kelsey Mathis PH for Kramer. She had a PH yesterday. What a stressful time for a freshman to come in !!! Kelsey strikes out. But have a two run lead going to the top of the 7th. Who will be on the mound?

Lessentine in the game. Another freshman in at a very stressful time. C'mon, Sydney, you can do it !! Strikes being called balls again. Popup to short on a 3-2. One out. Fly out to center. Two outs. Grand slam hitter at the plate. STRUCK OUT SWINGING - AGGIES COME BACK AND WIN IT 9-7. FIRST SAVE FOR LESSENTINE !!!!!!!! Aggies win the series !!!!!!!!!!

Ags had 11 hits and 9 left on today. Bats came alive at great times. Four walks at the right time really helped!

And no errors today !!!

Loved seeing the adjustments we made after looking pretty overmatched yesterday on offense. We should be feasting on any team that only has 1-2 pitchers

Top of the 6th

Walk
Walk
Single
Grand slam, 4 RBI
Hit by pitch
Single
Strike out, first out
Hit by pitch
Single, 2 RBI, runner out at third for second out
Fly out, third out

No one 'hates' Lefty. No one was cursing Coach for not changing pitchers in the 6th. I have said many times that Lefty is awesome and she is. She has won a lot of complete games and in relief but she has given up a lot of walks, big hits, HR's, etc. at really bad times in her career. Wild pitches and hit batters sometimes, too. Quite a few on 3-2 counts. Her strikeout to walk ratio is about 1.7:1 so far this year. Was about 2:0 last year. Stats do not lie - she gives up a lot of walks. I think most coaches in baseball and softball would have put in another pitcher at some time in the 6th in this game. Probably fairly early in the inning. Does not mean they do not like the pitcher but only doing what's best for the team and trying to stop the bleeding. In the interview after the game Coach said something like (do not remember the exact words) 'maybe I should have taken her out but she's my dog'. I mentioned in the thread that Coach has said several times before and during this season that it's great having so many arms because she can put in someone new after the other team bats around once or just to put in a different style pitcher to throw them off. Today would have been a great time to do so. Note that she DID put in Lessentine in the 7th and she did an excellent job. Says a LOT. And she is only a freshman! In that pressure situation! I do not have the magical ability to say, "if she had put in Lessentine after the first walk in the sixth Bama would not have scored any runs and we would have won easily." Luckily, in the end our bats, Bama giving up walks late and Lessentine doing fantastic we came back and won the game.

I cannot know what Coach is thinking but her and the other coaches will be talking about that inning for awhile - should we have put in Lessentine during that horrible inning? If this was a final in a regional or super regional or in the WCWS would she have? IF we had not come back and won the game I think many in this thread would have said she should have. It's history now. We won the series. But it is something that we will think about in the future.

Posting in this thread and the season thread.

That is some of the most selfish coaching I have ever witnessed! She refuses to pull Lefty off the mound in the middle of an inning no matter what is happing!

You seem to have some kind of axe to grind.

I'm always suspicious of rookie accounts like this.

Enright and Kramer aren't hitting well enough to justify the PT. Tine to try a youngster in CF and LT too. The removal of KK today paid huge dividends.

Ford should have pulled Emily after the first 2 walks in the 6th.

"Axe to grind" nope just have my own opinions and view on game. No axe, been around the game for many years and have my own thoughts. Don't most fans think we know better than the coaches. I have been a long time reader of the Aggie thread just never posted before. I was happy to see Coach bring in more arms this years and have been surprised we haven't used them more. I'm no threat, Aggie softball fan here!

Having your own opinion is one thing but your statements come across as a either a toddler or hormonal teenage girl./HTH

I wasn't at the game so I couldn't see if anyone was up in the pen when the 6th started. If not, then I understand not pulling lefty. You can't just hop off the bench and go in the circle. Some pitchers have pretty extensive warmup routines. You can "rush it" but a pitcher won't be at her best if you do that (usually). But, like I said, I wasn't there to see if anyone was loosening.

I completely understand your take on Allie and Kramer. I have thought about it several times. But they are great in the outfield. Fast, great gloves and great arms. These save a lot of hits and runs. I think these are the reasons Coach leaves them in the lineup. It DOES stick out when we really need a hit and they do not come through, in really low scoring games, etc.. Note that Coach has PH'ed them a few times this year. She wants some hits but does not want to give up their defensive abilities.

Note that Kelsey Mathis had two PH AB's this weekend. She has put her in as a PR several times, too. She was an awesome hitter and outfielder in HS. Just a wild guess but Coach 'might' have her in mind to stick her out there in one or more of the upcoming non-conference games. I think we might, just might, see a few small lineup changes like this in these non-conference games. It's the last chance to try out new girls before the SEC minefield starts up again. And some coaches might like to do that to give a starter a quick mental 'kick' - "hey, we DO have other players".

On Lefty in the 6th. I completely understand you there, too. I wrote a long comment above (I know, sometimes I write too much!) on that. I would not have put in Leavitt or Grace or freshman Munnerlyn. Only Sidne or Lessentine because they have both proven themselves this year. But I would go with Lessentine first because she throws strikes. I DID forget to add to my long post that Coach knows way more than I do about softball in general and pitching in particular. She knows her girls. She trusts her pitchers. She trusts her instincts. This is the third season with Lefty. IF I was the coach, and I am certainly NOT, I would have put in Lessentine. Early. But Coach has the pulse of the team and her players. She is the pitching coach. I will not criticize her for any call because I think she is great and knows what she is doing. But I am a huge fan of the game and I always like playing the 'what if' game. So, is it possible for me to question the call while at the same time not criticizing it? I think so - because it is what I am doing!

Ok, well not sure why that is or why you find my comments so offensive but I guess I will pick up my toys and go. Not worth arguing over this, you win. Have a nice day.
