To my knowledge pitch clock doesn't start until pitcher has ball in the circle. So only the time she runs back is taking time

I wish she did this at Davis. The crowd would be merciless

It's totally legal as long as she is not going to the mound for a conference. It is often indicative of a lateral epicondylitis or "tennis elbow". The catcher has been able to throw to the bases fine but she is limiting her throws.

Maybe coach just trying to slow their pitchers down.

I think Coach Ford has instilled the mindset of "Did we play well?" vs "Did we win?". We won but you could argue did not play up to what is expected so it wasn't a game to be happy about. I like it, championship mindset.

So I am not sure if this is it, but someone posted about someone else doing this awhile back. They called it "The Yips".

I dealt with this problem as a catcher in baseball a few times. It wasn't mental. It was a lateral epicondylitis. When you are making full motion rapid throws to the bases it still hurts but your muscle memory takes you through the pain in the motion. When you are making standard throws back to the pitcher the pain will often interrupt your motion and you don't finish the throw. The only way to heal is to rest it. That's hard to do in season. But you can limit your throws. Note that she walked out to the circle even when there was no one on base. An occasional "yip" throw when there aren't any baserunners isn't damaging to anything but your ego. With baserunners it can be very damaging. Who knows. It could be the Yips, but I think there 8s something else there.

My question is, why doesn't the pitch clock start when she goes toward the circle after the repetition is shown to be slowing down the game? That's the goal of the clock, right? The Auburn pitcher gets an extra 5 to 8 seconds of time to regroup, each pitch, than Emiley does.
