The Ags have come through the losers bracket three times: 1999. 2007 & 2015. They have been doubled dipped twice in Regional play, 2003 by U of H and last year by Stanford.

That 03 regional in college station was one of most eye rolling of Johnson's post season shortcomings. We had zero business losing that series to a very meh UH team. And to lose on a dribbler in front of the mound and air mailed into right field for the loss was just depressing

but will have to settle for 2 of its 6 teams advancing

4th place West Virginia and 6th place Kansas State

UConn winning the Norman regional was a surprise

I'd rank the biggest surprises this weekend:

1. Evansville winning the Greenville regional over ECU and Wake
2. Arkansas losing the Fayetteville regional and not even making the final
3. UConn winning the Norman regional over Duke and OU

Speaking of crying - that could've been y'all. If Hyman (regardless of school affiliation) had been on the committee instead of the kstate dude, y'all would be cele-crying winning the Arky regional. Again. Kstate would be at home on the couch.

going back to the Razorbacks...

what a collapse

after winning the Friday game in Lexington on May 3rd, the Hogs were 40-7 on the season...and everything was going great

but after that win, Arkansas went just 4-9 in their last 13 games

and finished 44-16 for the season

the pitching staff cratered in the last month. Maybe they were overworked earlier in the season

closing the book on the B1G's season...

the league was the #4 RPI conference, but in the postseason...it looked liked the old Big Ten

Illinois, Nebraska, and Indiana were a combined 3-6 -- and none of them made the finals

blown out in most games

we'll see if the ex-Pac-12 teams can elevate the league next year

Only upsets I see taking place are Gators or Wolfpack. So I hedged that they might cancel one another so it is still 4 each.

No one saw 3 of the teams playing next weekend having a chance either. Baseball gods say someone is going to have a pitching meltdown we don't see coming.

If you go back and look at pitch counts they were almost overly protective. Smith really never exceeded 100 pitches and usually didn't reach that number. They got a few injuries. Their bullpen started flaming out much earlier than that.
