It was somewhat tongue-in-cheek, and replay works lots better in MLB than in college. There are cameras *everywhere* in a big league ballpark. In college, way too many replays feature long delays because of poor camera angles.
That particular replay, it was close enough at first that the replay was inconclusive. IMO, it's more exciting to put the runner on first when you can't tell rather than letting the out call stand (the little kid rule to which I referred). Just my two cents.
