So sun is the primary reason our baseball field needs to be relocated? Too much sun for baseball fans? I sat on the berm for all the playoff games last year and yes it was brutal, but it was also full of fans and my teen and pre-teen kids made it through somehow.
Perhaps change from a stadium known for having winds that push fly outs to HR's to a stadium where the wind blows in?
The problem is selling whatever armchair seats we build as season tickets. Folks are not going to pay top dollar for season tickets where they are looking into the sun at that severe of angle. The field orientation at Olsen is a bit unusual in that, normally, you try to have a baseball field oriented so that the line from home plate to second base runs either northeast (which puts the 3rd base stand on the west side, which becomes shady side for afternoon and evening) or southeast (which puts the first base side on the west, making 1st base the shady side). Olsen is oriented so that the line from home plate to second base is rather close to due north (maybe 5 degree on the compass; northeast would be 45 degrees). If the field was oriented northeast, instead of north, even the "sunny" side would have less sun issues, and the roof and second deck overhang would provide more shade protection as the sun goes down than is the case now.
Ideally, we would put more seating on the shady side of the park, whether that's Olsen or a new park, but doing so in the current configuration won't be easy because of the player and coaching facilities located along the 3rd base line.
