yes, that's the disappointing thing today.

This loss is squarely on Schlossnagle. Several bad coaching decisions at critical times.
Last year he made all the right decisions and this is one of the best teams money can buy . We need to take one tomorrow and be happy it's a long season. We've got to hope we can get some pitchers to step up. We still have Minnich and Werner out.
Except we aren't even competitive against a good team. Our batting isn't good enough to savage a season, pitching like this is going to keep us under .500 in the SEC.
Can't be happy for a "long season" if we are bad...and after 20 games...its safe to say we are bad.
Starting 13-7 (0-3) and people are hopeful for a good season. How does that make any sense? We haven't even got into the hardest part of our schedule and every aspect of our game is struggling. Whether it's ground outs or throwing strikes, we fail to make routine baseball plays.
You think we are going to have a successful conference season?
You think we will be above .500 in conference play?
I recognize the SEC is the best conference in the nation. Being north of .500 is hard, and I'm not seeing it from our guys. The stage is set this weekend, we are at home, you've had 17 games to figure it out. And here we are trailing by 6...with a depleted bullpen for game 3.
Starting 0-3 requires three 2-1 series wins just to come back to .500. And with our schedule...how are you handicapping the first 3 series?
Ole miss was 14-16 in sec play last year and won the cws
Also you characterizing lsu as merely a "good" team is asinine, this is a semi pro team
Maybe take some deep breaths

Funny how top teams are always lauded as talent-stacked, filled with 1st rounders, with 15in ckcs and no holes in their game.

I'm hard pressed to classify our bullpen as depleted after today. If anything I thought we should have used some better arms when we were leading. According to Boomer the 2 we brought in initially were guys with limited pitches that depend on spotting pitches. With the ump having a strike zone the size of a thimble that was a bad matchup and it cost us big time.

First rule of college sports: talk up your opponent.
If you lose "well they are a semi-pro team"
If you win "they are outstanding, yet we beat em."
Either way it's win-win. You never beat a #1 and say "well they are really overrated" it undercuts your win.
Baseball writers sensationalize stories. That's journalism, and in sports journalism its doubley true.

Fact is that Schloss is still building things here. Last year we hit the jackpot with the upperclassman transfers. A lot of the bulk of our talent now is young. A step back this year would not surprise me nor make me too worried. Schloss has things headed in the right direction.

Ah...it was the small strike zone that gave em a dozen free basesrunners.
I guess our batters aren't used to seeing balls in the center of the zone, but the LSU all-stars can crush that all day.
He made decisions that turned out bad. No coach purposefully makes "bad" decisions.fireinthehole said:Capitol Ag said:

Schloss made some bad coaching decisions today that really cost us. Very uncharacteristic I think.
