I know we were hoping that last weekend might not end up being so bad. But Portland has dropped two of three at home to the Utah Valley Wolverines so far this weekend with a Sunday game still to go.

When's the last time we took to the diamond against Tech? I have no recollection whatsoever. Was it our last season in the Big 12?
I grew to hate Tech more than tu, I think. Fall of '89 my gf and I drove to Lubbock on Fri for the Tech game the following day. Made it just in time for Yell Practice in front of the Buddy Holly statue. Tech fans drove by, shouting obscenities and throwing beer bottles.
Driving down some thoroughfare near campus, a truckload of them opened up a pressure washer on our windshield, as they saw the A&M stickers on the car.
Then, we lost a poorly officiated game the next day, which I hadn't even considered possible. My God, what a miserable weekend. And then we had the stretch of losing 11 out of 14 games against them. And they gave us plenty of headaches in basketball and baseball.
In other words, I hope we beat them so bad that several of their players quit the game of baseball.

True story:
I was visiting with a friend who's wife of 50 years had just suddenly died. The family (all Tech fans) had just arrived and he was watching the Texas Tech football game with them.
He was telling me about his wife, stopped, looked at the tv and then asked me, "Do you know why all Texas Tech teams stink?"
I, surrounded by Tech fans, answered, "No."
He said, "They stink because they have TT on their uniforms!"
