Living the dream in the Hill Country. I was at Trinity back in October for FP HS reunion weekend. Church looks good. I like the new minister.

They are pretty awesome! Mom is in Spokane, living near my sister now. Dr Pepper has retired from mission field and living in Georgia, running a geriatric facility (he's the only doctor). He's a grandfather now.

My grandfather, Melvin Franks, was class of '51, so this would have been right in his wheelhouse. He passed when I was young but I wear his Aggie ring.

Still a thing today. "Putouts" is the name for the stat, I think. It's mostly used for fantasy sports at this point though, and for kids playing MLB the Show, if you have a character whose career you control, they want a SS or 1B, someone who gets lots of putouts so they earn more points,

Not to derail this thread, but it looks like a TV scandal was brewing between "powerhouse" Penn, Notre Dame, Army and the NCAA all the way back in 1951. Apparently the NCAA didn't allow telecasts of college football games back then.

I did not realize Al Ogletree played at A&M. He coached at the University of Dallas in the 60s. My HS coached played for him at UD. Then implemented what he called the 'Coach Ogletree' system at our school with much success. Teams that were fundamentally sound: solid D, strike throwing pitchers and hitter who swing at strikes. Easier said than done to implement.

He was a great coach, taking UT Pan-American to the College World Series in '71 where they won two games (currently tied with the Ags). One of probably only a handful who have won a game in Omaha as a coach and a player.
