How can there be an obstruction call without any contact? Fielder has to force the blue to make that call

Yes but when your infielder is running straight out at you and you have to worry about a collision that causes issues. Kalae should not have been out there I think it would've been caught otherwise. Easier to rush in from the outfield than out from the infield.
