Personally I think the big mystery as to why we are THE National Champions of underachieving is because of our blind aka loyal support. We wait too long. We are content with our underachievements because hey, we are still special with all our traditions and such. I don't mean there are any bad intentions. It's just part of being Aggies and what we do.
It isn't some special thing about A&M. There isn't a lot of precedent for firing coaches in years they make a regional. Ones that do get fired in those years tend to have not advanced past a regional for multiple years or have some off the field issue.
Lopez was fired at Florida but it was after a three year stretch where he missed the playoffs one year and didn't advance out of a regional in the other two.
Jack Legget got fired at Clemson, but it was the 5th year in a row of not getting out of regionals and the second year in a row of going 2&Q in the regional round.
Smoke Laval got fired in a year he missed the regional and didn't get out of regionals the previous year.
Other programs aren't firing people with RC's record. Other programs aren't firing coaches a year after they made the CWS. They aren't firing coaches that made the super regionals 3 of the last four years. If you can find some coaches that have been fired in those situations, then you might have a point.
Otherwise, while you can certainly make the argument that the entire world of college baseball is too timid when it comes to firing baseball coaches, you can't really make the argument that other programs would be firing RC right now and that there is just this blind part of being an Aggie. There just isn't any evidence of that.
I certainly don't agree with all of our coaching decisions and at some other times you might have a point, but RC has done well enough that he wouldn't be getting fired anywhere at this point.
