Absolutely not. Nobody hangs banners for losing to the eventual champ. You want to go as far as possible every year regardless of how you get there.
No one hangs banners for losing in the regionals, but it is easier to justify that you got beat by the best team in the country rather than the "16th" best team in the country.

One is "I ran up against greatness" the other is "I couldn't keep up with mediocrity."

I wouldn't give 2 ****s. This is for losers at the chicken to debate 20 years after the fact. "oh well we ran up against dang ol XYZ that year. If not for them we'd have for sure made it further."

If you aren't a regional host or national seed in college baseball, looking back on who you lost to in a regional just doesn't move the needle.

I'm under no such illusions, it's a "losers discussion".

But you can't say "well we ran into a woodchipper" when the team you lost to is a loser.


If this were basketball and Duke goes 42-0 and wins the NC, if you were #37 on their kill list it's nothing to be ashamed of. But if you get beat by a "13-seed" that was 16-14 and got an AQ, you can't really say you were competitive or could have gone far.

They need a lot of things like ushers. They don't have ushers for each portal so for big games people sit in the wrong seats and then have to move once the seat holders get there.

This year they just started selling reserve parking for the lot just east if the stadium.

Half of you guys seem to be unfamiliar with the concept of transitivity.

The other half seem to be unaware that transitivity doesn't apply in college baseball.

Losing a single game says virtually nothing about the quality of your team, regardless of whether the opponent was a good team or a bad one.
