Long Beach/Fullerton was a great super regional. Minus the 12-0 Fullerton blowout. But it did go 3 games.
2011 was the last time at least 5 national seeds made it to Omaha.

Funny that every time we make it there is lots of chalk to fight through. A national seed (#4 USCe) won the title that year.
USCe did get to face northern school and Regional 2 seed UCONN in their Super Regional. Never hurts to have help along the way.

The biggest let down for me was the Vandy/Oregon St. series. I thought that it had the best potential but either OSU is every bit as good as their 54-4 record or we saw the "Mr. Hyde" Vanderbilt rather than the "Dr. Jekyll" Vanderbilt.Beau Holder said:

The first game of the MSU/LSU series was fantastic and despite the slow pace of play of last night's game it was shaping up to be another but State's lack of pitching depth finally caught up with them.
Wake/Florida have had competitive games but weather has probably meant few have been able to catch any of the play. Saw the last bit of Game 1 in replay Sunday morning it was an intense well played game.
Sam/FSU first game was really fun, second game was painful, painful baseball. Feel for Deggs and his players.
Unfortunately Missouri St./TCU were opposite of the Ags on Saturday, that looked to be a really good game.
Kentucky/Louisville, the Cardinals just looked scary good. However, for all their recent success under McDonnell, Louisville has not had much success in Omaha. I hope that continues against the Ags.

Florida - Wake game supposed to be on ESPN2 according to NCAA website. Weather radar shows clear right now.
regarding Vanderbilt...it was not a great year. Vandy lost 25 games with talent like Wright, Raby, Kendall, and Toffey. It was a less with more season in Nashville
They seemed to still be feeling the effect from having a play die last year before the regional, at least at the start of the season, then kind of seemed to flip the switch and put it behind him. I'm going to say that they just got beat at Corvallis--the competition, and the travel, can do that to you. That seems to be a hard trip to make.W said:

Vanderbilt had a very "Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde" type of season. At times they looked like the Vandy we expect, other times they looked very, very average. Whenever they showed Corbin in the dugout this year he looked baffled, bewildered and bemused to me. I remember one in game interview in which he could not hide his frustration even with the usual coach speak.W said:

Ouch, WF runner tagged out after missing the plate.
There seem to be a lot of plays like that at home because the catcher is blocking the plate and the runner slides on the outside and reaches back.
Catcher has a huge advantage if he can block the plate while still trying to make the catch. If they're not going to allow contact, the runner should be entitled to the base path unimpeded until the catcher has secured the ball, IMO. Any other base, it's considered interference.

If the umps are going to allow that and not call interference then runners need to start blasting catchers again. I mean Charlton/Sciosa or Rose/Fosse. Catchers can't have it both ways.brainman5000 said:

I fully understand the need/reason to protect the catcher. But those types of protections have to come with tradeoffs. And that means you stand off the plate and try to swipe tag. If they're on/blocking they plate they deserve to get trucked.
I know it's Monday mid-day, but that crowd at UF is a joke. If it was us, feel comfortable saying we'd be fairly crowded.
