Lest we forget that A&M took away two of our sections that are never full of these so called "season ticket holders" unless it's a big weekend. This was an hour before the game yesterday. All four sections could have been packed too. Also, you're telling me A&M is eventually going to turn all of the seats into reserved seating? Well, you can kiss whatever atmosphere we've been having goodbye.

Long live 203.

That's because season ticket holders don't have to get to the game an hour early, the seats didn't look like that at first pitch

My only complaint with the current crop of Raggies is that they are sometimes too wedded to their shtick to stoop to such mundane things as joining (or preferably instigating) things that would get the entire fan base going. For example, when we have a rally going, it would be easy to get everyone involved in something like clapping. The current Raggies seem to view that as passe, instead opting to just merely yell the pitcher's name. When they do deign to lead something like that, which only seems to happen when we are trailing in the 9th, they do it so slow that the rest of the fans won't join in, and it's still centered around yelling the pitcher's name.

Going to games should be fun, and I'm glad these folks are having a good time, but I think the Olsen experience could be better for everyone if they would adapt their act slightly. I'm not asking them to go back to doing what we did in my time--the crowds were smaller in the '80s, so that you could be heard on the field from anywhere in the granstand-but the atmosphere was much better in the late '90s, when crowds were even larger. Back then, when the Aggies had a rally going, the place was rocking. Now, it's like a rally is just a distraction from the act.

Huh, we have a winner.

I don't understand the quote unless you didn't read (or understand) what I posted. If you guys feel you are above constructive criticism, so be it.

At one point in there, you were throwing in there "it was better back in the day." Which was called in the tread.

Constructive criticism is fine, but it's not easy to get folks out of their norms. I like to think we do what we can to influence the most vulnerable player in the park: the pitcher. If we want to become another LSU with nothing but high school and volley chants, so be it. It'll probably happen within the next 5 years if the 12th Man Foundation gets their way.

I don't think Hooper started this thread to be another "back in my day" thread. I certainly didn't take it that way but knew it would get there at some point. I just want to see the Raggies come back in full force and if they need our help to make that happen I'm ready to do what I can. It's not a back in my day mindset at all. I have learned that each generation of students will have their own way to do things and I'm fine with that. Some of it is just not being there to witness how active the Raggies were at one point. I was in school in the late 1990s and there wasn't a single pitch that the entire stands weren't unified in something led by the Raggies. That said, I went to games in the early '80s as a kid and my generation was not as wild as they were in the '80s. It was a constant murmur in those days. I did not know about the student section being split up. That's bullsheet.

I'll actually go ahead and say it... it's not nearly as good as it used to be.
When I first showed up in 2001, there was far more spur of the moment, off the cuff hilarity than there has been in a dozen years.
And I don't say that to claim some integral part of the greatness. It began dying off (or at least becoming very formulaic) during my years there

Yeah, they took away 201 and 204, so a lot of our potential is currently isolated to the berms. I'm just not looking forward to the day that all butt seats become reserved. That's going to be a tough day for some folks.

I hate to say this, but I have to agree. There was a big difference in quality between my freshman year and my last season alone. I sat in 202 and 203 my freshman and sophomore year before migrating to the front row of 206 for my last 3 seasons and the drop off was more noticible each year (and no, it wasn't the location change, ) My first two years the student section was full 45 minutes before the game and anyone after that was banished to the right field bleachers. When I came back during and after nursing school, it seemed like more of the hecklers were heckling to be seen and not to effect the game.

I remember going to a game in the late 80's vs LSU and every time this one fat guy would take his practice cuts the crowd would chant "1 Shamu, 2, Shamu, 3 Shamu". Then there was an Asian guy that got in the box and they chanted "1 egg roll, 2 egg roll, 3 egg roll".

Those were the days.

I've said this before, they could make a lot more money by charging more for the existing season tickets. There are season ticket holders who have four seats, use 2 and sell 2 and make thousands of dollars each season. They didn't need to add season ticket locations, just charge market rate for the existing ones.

Don't lump everyone in the same category. I have Field Club seats and I am there every damn game. If I can't make it I give them away. Have a lot if friends that also give their seats away.
Not gonna put up with that crap.
That really pisses me off.

But you are paying way under market value for seats. That's a fact. The price should be significantly higher for every reserved seat in Blue Bell. The best way to maximize r venues was not to take more student ticket allocations away.

I'd like to see the math on how you make thousands of dollars off of selling two seats?

Liberal snowflake?? For promoting more capitalism?? Ok...You obviously need to work on your rags (since that's what the thread is about). How could anything I wrote be construed as liberal or me being sensitive? If anything, I'm encouraging more greed in the athletic dept.

"Its not fair that someone has more seats than they can use". Not verbatem but pretty much what you said. They shouldn't be allowed to sell their seats. Marxism at its finest.
Do you even know what Club seats cost?
You'd have to know that before you say we're paying under market.
Try again.

Friday lower level seats can easily sell for $50-$75. Same for Saturday. Sunday and Thursday games are more like $30-$50 depending on opponent. So let's say $300-$400/wknd for the pair (and that's conservative) 7 weekend series gets you to about $2500. The weekday games have a much worse resale value. But you can probably generate a few hundred bucks. You're just shy of $3000 now...more in some locations. Take out the cost but throw in the sell of your other two on a few occasions and you are paid up for the season and have $2000 left over. Don't believe me, just go look at pricing for any remaining weekend series in Flash.

First off.....the Raggies did better today. I love that and appreciate the effort that some of you put into it. Keep it going and that enthusiasm will grow to a roar throughout every game. Hat's off to you. Take Hooper up on his offer to get the Ks back and let's do this together.

Now to the side conversation:

No one is making thousands of dollars off seats. It just isn't an accurate statement. Are there games that have significantly more demand than supply? Yes. But there are a hell of a lot of games that are reverse. For every 5-10 games when supply exceeds demand you'd better have 3-6 games that have huge demand just to turn a profit, let alone make thousands.

I'm a 5 seat ticket holder that lives 4 hours from town. Needless to say I don't get to come watch a whole heck of a lot of games. I send tickets for every game to someone to use for free. I don't give two sheets about recouping money. I just want someone in the seats. I know of a crapload of people that do the same exact thing. And I don't think the market value is significantly different than what I pay. Too much more and I'd pause before I kept buying.

Back on topic....off topic rant has nothing to do with the Raggies other than moving people around has displaced some of the former success of the Raggies. The goal now needs to be to come together and figure out how to rejuvenate the Raggies with the current seating arrangement. We can do this if it is coordinated and has some leadership.

Your math is simply off. I have been able to sell seats for $50-$70 before to the biggest of big games but the average is around $15-$20 for the season if that. There just isn't the demand for every game that you want to say there is. I too if that, club seats are in a different stratosphere. I would be shocked if a club ticket holder could break even over the coarse of a season let alone make thousands.

Nice story but nobody is paying that, you migh have gotten those prices this weekend but nobody's is paying those prices ESP for midweek games against nobodies. You didn't get those prices agaisnt Brown and you're not getting those prices on Sunday.

I forgot my ticket to Brown and bought a flash seat upstairs for $2 and there where ton a really cheap seats I could have bought.
