They are putting him behind in the count every time because he won't swing on the first pitch. Almost always is swinging at the second pitch.

I think Childress was asking if the ball was in play because if it was, he never set before initially trying to go to third and it would have been a balk. He obviously thought it was a balk and that's why he was upset
