I've been holding onto this analogy for fear of saying it, but Smith is really starting to remind me of Matt Alexander.

Does his job in the field but lost at the plate. Smith has more power than Alexander did and when he's on, he's on. But I think he's still batting below .200 right now on the season.

As I remember, Matty hit about .280 or so his first two seasons, went into a terrible slump his junior year, and never really came out of it...

except for the regional at Rice that is!
