I hope they started the process as soon as it was clear Buzz was wanting to go. I'm not sure when that was but some people here were adamant he was gone even before the tourney started and I hope the AD knew then as well.

I have to admit A& M doesn't seem to move at lightning speed on this sort of thing.

I wanted McCasland two yrs ago but then buzz rallied from the awful start,

I think they've started the search already but until you know for sure, and maybe they did prior to today you can't really be interviewing, etc. Hopefully they've got a list at this point that are interested in the job.

From the outside looking in, between the decision makers in the athletic department and the big money meddlers trying to flex their influence, it seems you'd want the Benny Hill music playing in the background while they work thru the new hire

No one is lined up. We didn't pay Buzz enough. They'll hire some mediocre coach and A&M basketball will go back to being irrelevant.

How many decades of incompetence are we going to have to tolerate out of our athletic department? We consistently hire idiot ADs who make **** coaching hires and then seem totally unprepared with backup options when those hires leave us in a lurch.

Doubtful....he has some young players that could make them go far in playoffs in next couple of years

Mark Pope has already met with his team and informed them. His plane is on its way from Lexington

Sarcasm/BAS aside, I would assume feelers were out on the obvious big names already. If we were to get one of those (unlikely) it would be quick. (We did make a serious run at Vitello after all)

But alas, putting "Sarcasm/BAS aside" aside this will drag out. TT and OM will give out raises/extensions disguised as rewards for great seasons/awards. We will be "big game hunting". There will be rumors that we are waiting on Sampson to finish up at the Final Four before we move on to a drawn out search that ends with an up and comer or decent mid-major coach.

I can't wait to be wrong.

I hope we hire an assistant so we don't lose players...

Somebody said about 3 or so days ago in one of the fifty other threads that they had firsthand knowledge that a successful coach was already lined up. And the hire would be huge - and we'd all be surprised. Others questioned the post, but he responded to just wait a few days - and that it would be ….. "Huge". I'm sure this poster had the inside scoop and we have nothing to worry about.
