I'm sorry , the refs may have been a factor but we had this game in hand and let it gradually slip away. Not really blaming anyone but at the end of the day we didn't get it done. Credit to Michigan.

If those refs can be the target I'm down.
Not the fact that we shot 38% from the floor.
We were up by 10 when the refs called us for 5 ticky tacky calls in a row tgat gave Michigan free throws. We might have still **** the bed, but at the time, Payne was literally making them his *****. Refs called two fouls on him in a row and absolutely changed the game and let Michigan back in.
I think your only posts on the game thread were about the refs. It's a non-issue. Can't do anything about it. Let it go.
Because they single handedly changed the game and let a fledgling team back in. If you want to rail on the coach go for it. He's not immune. But I'm going to keep harping in the one thing that FORCED us to play a different game. Refs shouldn't be getting thst invlolved.

What if someone were to tell you you're wrong. And the problem was that we couldn't get a stop on defense and Michigan made some crazy shots that went in.

They were. When I said that we were up 10, nearly got a steal, and the ball bounced right into their guys hands under the basket for a lucky ass bucket. We were on the brink of breaking it open and then the refs took Payne out of the game on ticky tacky *****

We never win the important games.
Was Auburn not an important game? We likely slide to a 6 seed or worse, if we lose that one.
This team won more big games this year than we have seen in a LONG time. Don't take that away from them .
Or, are we just venting because only our most recent loss was an "important game".

I feel for them too, but honestly, this was where they deserved to be. If they made it to the Sweet 16, that would have been playing above their ceiling if you ask me.
This team has had a horrible offensive identity for a few years. We cannot run a 1/2 court offense to save our lives, literally proven today. This is nothing new. We have been one of the worst offensive teams this year. We have also been very good on D, and stellar on the boards.
Our ONLY path to winning is to out rebound the opponent, gathering offensive boards and score off those, and play strong physical D that keeps the opponent scoreless for stretches while we chip away on the other end.
That all changed in the 2nd half today. Michigan opened the game by pressuring us inside. We adjusted and got up by half. We came out of the second by having a good (abnormally good) offensive spurt. Michigan weathered it, and started pressuring us again. The refs decided to start calling everything, and took away our ability to by physical on D or crash the boards. Michigan adjusted and found some offensive flow through passing. We could not adjust, as we don't have another avenue to win.
I don't mean that to be negative towards us. It just is what it is, and has been. We had our ability to be aggressive and play ugly gritty basketball taken away, and we have no other way to win. A team like that is playing on borrowed time in March, and usually won't make it past a game or two. That's why I say we finished right about where we should have. We deserved to be playing in the 2nd round. But, we are not nearly compete enough of a team to be a Sweet 16 or Elite 8 team.
Very proud of these guys. They should hold their heads high.
I'm also hoping we can rebuild over the next year or two with some skilled players, and can develop a true offense to go along with relentless defense.
we do play above our weight, but why must we have to! Florida, Bama, Kentucky, Tennessee now Michigan all play with size and just abuse us all game. We have two 5's and they hardly saw the court at the same time so we were asking Solo or Garcia or Carter to guard a 7 footer in the paint thus requiring help and leaving someone open… Buzz just chooses not to recruit sizeTAMUallen said:taylorswift13_ said:

Valid point on our big sizes.
Working with what we had I think we actually played really well. Wolf and Goldin had 5 fouls between them. Goldin should have fouled out multiple times. There's just so little you can do when you get abused by bigs without calls
5 fouls you say?Brother Shamus said:

I agree for the most part but even you admit to " The refs decided to start calling everything, and took away our ability to by physical on D or crash the boards." So we can win games but I get it's harder to win games with a great defense vs a great offense.
Having an NBA ready scorer is hard to get and keep to build around. Maybe we should focus on this and Kennedy was much better at recruiting NBA level talent but we ended up in the same spot when we ditched that mentality and went back to hard nose defense Gillespie type with Buzz.
Now we will let Buzz leave or eventually fire him and go back to a recruiter type and hopefully we break the cycle or it continues. Who knows

yes. It seemed like in the first half manny was getting into the lane with his left hand anytime he wanted. Then he sat the bench and we never ran anything like that again.Aston04 said:the game plan for Manny was horrible. Why not run pick and roll with him and payne?Muy said:
