I just read this too. Internet culture and online hate is so prevalent and toxic but so impactful to our youth. Having my kids growing up I hate the crap they have to see and deal with that I did not. And grown adults attacking college kids is just wrong… I went to the SEC tournament last weekend and watched a 50 yr old Tennessee man calling a 19 year old Auburn player a ***** for getting hurt on a play. These types of fans for any team including ours are trash.

For what it's worth, Jace will always an Aggie and our real fans want him to be nothing but successful. I hate that he had to go through this.

Where online is he receiving this hate? I can see people being overly critical, but the death threats and racial slurs?

These days a lot of the hate isn't even from fans, it's from gamblers. People mad a guy missed 4 FTs and blew his cover. They get on their faceless Twitter and fire shots at these dudes.

This. Although there are also keyboard warrior idiots who have nothing better to do than anonymously attack college kids. And they like to hide behind statements like "it's professional sports now, so they need to deal with it."

This is a hit piece plain and simple. There's zero ****ing chance player hate isn't a billion times worse at any other big school. I've been to multiple games at Rupp and UK fans say the wildest **** I've ever heard. **** espn and Jace should know better than to say that if he cares about this university. I'm happy he had a turnaround game, but ffs

Jace looked so happy when he hit that three and kick started the mini-run. Can't imagine any Ags not being just as happy for him.

People really suck sometimes...

Most of the hateful types I know that would do this sort of thing typically are not from A&M.

We do have a school very near us that's unfortunately in our conference that does...

I like Jace and have been bummed for him all year, but damn what a dumb door to open up, especially this time of year. Like cmon man. Every fanbase has drunken morons that say dumb **** online and most of it probably stems from people losing their ass betting….so largely probably not even from our fans or alums anyways. If you have to say it, specify that it's not coming from our real fans. Like are you telling me the dude walks around campus and gets **** said to him. Of course not.

I will also agree a lot comes from gamblers but of course many of them betting on Jace will have A&M ties. Of course other fan bases do it as well and I took Buzz's comments more about the overall state of college athletics.

There's a difference between what we say in game threads vs real life. In game threads, players, coaches, fellow posters…are called everything under the sun (minus racial slurs). I just don't think real ags would ever trash players outside of an in game thread

I thought Buzz handled it well. He didn't say A&M fans or our fans he basically said it's a widespread social media problem.

You really think with a fan base as large as ours that we don't have some $&/s? Are they real Ags, you would be correct but that doesn't mean they aren't Ags that went to A&M and graduated from here.

PS. I have seen slurs used on this site about our players that moderators had to remove with users being banned/suspended.
